These mesh filters are a great option for quickly straining out the bigger junk from gallons of paint. They fit over the top of 1 gallon paint cans, but they also fit a variety of other pails or containers with similar diameters.They're not the finest mesh, but the size of the screen does keep the paint moving through pretty quickly. For outdoor latex paint, the one I've used performed great, and filtered out the dusty and dried crud that otherwise winds up on the surface and has to be wiped away piece by piece. There may be some fine particulate that makes its way through, but - for outdoor applications - stuff of this size is typically blowing around in the wind anyway.I managed to clean the filter by inverting it over another pail when I was done, and a stiff stream from the garden hose cleaned it up well-enough that I'll be able to reuse it. BUT...for less than a buck a piece, you may not lose any sleep if you forego all that noise and just toss it!Altogether, this is a handy, useful, and versatile filter at a good price!

A good paint job requires prep work and plenty of patience. These strainers are essential for good paint applications. Just because your paint is newly purchased from a national paint store doesn’t mean it will not have chunks and trash present. These strainers catch all the unwanted debris. You should always strain paint.
