The handle on the sample sent for review is darker from heat treating and has a "blueing" look to it. However the file part is as seen in the product photos and is a uniform matte silver. This file works as it should and has a fine ground pattern that works well on a variety of materials. The hardened steel seems like it will last a long time. It is a medium course pattern that will remove material without being hard to "start" each filing stroke. Works as described. 4 solid stars.
