I don't use a thread file a lot but when I do, I NEED it. These are invaluable for repairing a dinged thread. Note that they will not make new threads, they will only repair slightly damaged threads. I have an imported one and it does the job but I've worn it down. This set is MADE IN USA, which immediately drew me. After speaking with a fellow machinest, he gave this set a good review from personal use and thus I went ahead and ordered. I love them. They work great. Well made.

Don't buy cheap files of any kind. These are very nice, high quality, sharp thread files. I use them on stainless steel well pump drive shafts and needed an 8 tpi file, this is the first one i found that had one. They work great. I even bought a second set for at work because they did so well. Highly recommended.

I’ve run into trouble with boogered threads on brake pack studs twice in a month and didn’t have a thread file. I was able to get a die to work but the clearance was terrible and I had to use a big vise grip. Not awesome. So now that they are in my box, no more boogered threads. This set is pretty good for the smaller sizes you’re likely to run into.
