These were the perfect addition to my outdoor shutters and to my fireplace mantle. I’m not sure the longevity of them just since the nail part is not super long, we added a bit of glue before we hammered it in in hopes that it will stay in the wood. Only time will tell, but for the aesthetics, these are really cool.

2024: I purchased 2 sets of these clavos to use with faux leather strapping (also purchased on Amazon) to cover seams on some beam covers. I pre-drilled the holes then hammered each in with a rubber mallet. They are the perfect finishing touch to make the beams look as if they are being hung from metal straps! If you are on this page considering making a purchase, I highly recommend these. They are substantial and look outsanding!

I have ordered and used so many of these clavos, it is mind boggling. In fact, all of the different kinds of clavos that I have ordered from A29 have been great. I use these 1" rounds the most because they are the most cost effect and are a perfect size. They lend that authentic rustic look, vs the "cookie cutter" styles of most of the others: each one is different. I love that, and the result is just amazing. When installing, I use a large drill bit to start a pilot hole, then use a rubber mallet to drive them in. If you want a real rustic look on your shutters, doors, furniture, etc., can't go wrong with these.

The iron nails are the authenticity and charm which was needed for my custom built shutters. The nails are made well and have that imperfect forge look of the old days. Our contractor used a quarter inch drill bit for the pilot hole so the cedar would not split when mailing in the iron nail. Absolutely love the nails!

We used the iron nails on the beam straps for an Edison chandelier that my wife and I built. The project turned out amazing, and the large iron nails added a lot of character. They are well-made and quite sturdy. Installation was easy - I just pre-drilled holes slightly smaller than the nail diameter and they snugged right in. These are decorative only, though, and shouldn't be trusted to hold a project together. Would purchase again in a heartbeat!

We are so very satisfied with the quality of these iron nails (clavos). They are very well made and have just the right balance of being consistent enough to make installing multiple nails easy, while still retaining their unique, hand-forged look. We found drilling a small pilot hole ensures there is no splitting when installing. We used the nails as accent points to a cover we made for a half-circle window. Great, great product!!

We built a headboard and window valance for our daughter. These decorative nails added a cute touch. Very sturdy. The pitted texture gave them a very rustic touch
