Briefly introducing pin gage

Pin gages, also known as plug gages, manufactured with a specific size and durable materials, are used to test hole sizes, especially small holes and to verify the diameter of holes and slots. They are used to quickly determine whether hole sizes are within certain tolerance or not. Moreover, they’re used as test bars for geometric deviation measurement.

They're commonly used in combination with go/no-go pin gage handles to produce a "Go-No Go" gage that quickly qualifies a bored hole. Pins are especially useful for gaging the straightness of a relatively deep bore. The Accusize go/no-go pin gage handles can work with our pin gage sets to produce a “Go-No Go” gage. These handles can be purchased separately.

Features:

  • Each pin gage set comes with a Certification of Performance.
  • Class ZZ Tolerance

Measuring Small Holes with Pin Gauges

  • Calipers are unreliable for measuring small holes; therefore, we need pin gages.
  • Accusize pin gages range widely from 0.011" to 1.000". You can use them to measure a huge number of small holes.

Cautions when using pin gages:

  • Prepare pin gage handles (Go/No Go handles).
  • Clean the measurement surface with a benzine or a dry cloth.
  • Wear gloves to prevent body temperature influencing the accuracy of the measurement. The temperature difference between your hands and pin gages may lead to an expansion of the pin gage.
  • Remove dust and fingerprints. Then, apply anti-rust oil to save the tool life.
  • Keep the pin gages in the environment with small humidity changes and temperature variations.

Accusize Industrial Tools Calibrate Micrometers

Calibrate Micrometers

  • Pin gages are a good deal in common as calibration for micrometers and calipers.
  • For example, you can use a 0.300” pin gage to verify the micrometer shooting for 0.300”.

Accusize Industrial Tools GoNogo Handle

Go/No Go Gage Handle

  • You can purchase our Go/No Go pin gage handle separately, so that you can use it with our pin gages to produce Go/No gage.
  • It will be ideal to check a workpiece against its allowed tolerance via go/no-go test
  • Put the pin gage inside the Go/No Go pin gage handle. If it fits the Go side, it is within tolerance of the hole. If it fits the No-Go side, it is out of tolerance of the hole.

Accusize Industrial Tools Measuring Groove

Measuring Groove

Verify the accuracy of a groove width of a work piece after processing by sliding the pin gage through the groove

Accusize Industrial Tools Measurement between holes

Measurement between holes

You can use pin gages to measure the distance between holes. The formula is shown in the picture.

Change of packaging

  • To meet the challenges of shipping in e-commerce, we’re continuously upgrading the outer packaging of our pin gage set, which were packed in fragile plastic cases and are then redesigned.
  • Accusize pin gages are now packed in strong plastic cases and some of them are in reliable and beautiful aluminum cases.
  • We keep upgrading the packaging. Some of the pin gage sets come with really solid cases and packaging. In the future, we will make it stronger and stronger.

I left my formerly negative review mostly intact below, just to explain the negatives of the aluminum case. However, after being annoyed by the aluminum case for over a year, I finally called Accusize. I got a very helpful person immediately, no long hold or call back. I explained my problem to her, she suggested sending me the plastic case for free. (I had thought about trying to buy one, but free is OK, too.) She followed up with a couple of emails about the shipping, and I got the plastic case, which is nice. No stuck pins, seems pretty tough and well made. Thank you, Livia. I should have called sooner. So, now it gets five stars, like most of the other Accusize things I have. But now, I dealt with the company, and it went well. It is now common that it is near impossible to speak to a human, so this was a nice surprise. If it is still available, I would not get the aluminum case, unless they have changed it.OLD REVIEW FOLLOWS, NO LONGER APPLIES--> This bad review is for the 0.251 to 0.500 set. I also have the smaller sizes, and they are fine. Gage pins themselves are ok..sharp edged, but I can change that if I want, and the sharp edge could be needed in some situations. However, the case is bad. The holes are through a sheet of plastic with foam underneath. The holes in the foam are way undersized..some practically seem glued in. I'm an avid motorcycle woods rider, and from that have what is probably stronger than average grip strength. Most of these I cannot get out without time consuming "wobbling" to enlarge the hole in the foam, then pulling,, wobble,, pull.. it can easily take a minute to remove one. It shrinks back after a while, too. Really makes me mad. Should I grab my new gage pins with pliers? It is annoying enough that I might make a wood piece with holes. I shouldn't have to drill 250 holes to use this stupid set of pins. I'd recommend considering another brand. I've been happy with other accusize things, mostly tooling, but not this junk. Should have returned it. 250 small slick things that are only useful if in order and easily accessible. And they aren't. The case is an important part of this product, and it is terrible.

The pins are great and case is great. As a result the set is somewhat heavy. However had to reorder because it was poorly packed before shipping and the aluminum case was busted and bent as a result of shipping. Not the sellers fault but Amazon’s. Nice pin set though and it’s what I was looking for since I’m not using them for ultra precision processes.

Like most accusize stuff. you get great value for the money. sure, it aint Starrett stuff, but neither is the price. For the hobbyist machinist, it is more than precise enough and good enough for such a shop. If you are a full time pro, and can justify the price of the Starrett stuff, go for it, but for most folks this set is perfect.

Those I've mic'd are dead on. Note, I've not tested them all. I'll update this review if I find a discrepancy. The case is a nice bonus.

I liked that the pin gages were coated with oil.I did not like the fact that they came in a metal box with locking latches, but no keys were furnished with the box.

Overall the set is a great value. Nice case for the pin gages. Out of the pin gages that were mic'd, they were all dead on.

This is a pretty nice set by accusize for the price. Please understand this isn’t comparable to the higher end brands that a professional machinist might find alluring due to get paid for their work but they are accurate, have a relatively good finish with a simple and some times irritate case but perfect pricewise and that’s the main feature.Your getting accurate plugs with a nice finish for a low price, if that’s what you are looking for, look no further.Until We Meet Again-Off the Grid Ken

I bought 2 boxes for my dad (0.061-0.250 and 0.251-0.500). The 0.251-0.500 came with a damaged aluminum box. And the pieces on the size are damaged as well. So I decided to return both of the boxes. Turn out that I had to paid $30 to ship the box (0.061-0.250) from the US to Canada for return. This box only worth ~$80. Feel speechless…The number labels of the pieces are printed in white on a clear plastic piece. So it was very hard to see.
