I saw online where this might not fit. It was perfect and gives me peace of mind about internal pressure on the 2.4 engines. Thank you.

Any GM vehicle built with the GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) version of the 2.4L 4 cylinder Ecotec engine has an internal PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system which is extremely prone to clogging or freezing in temperatures below 32F. The stock oil filler cap is a simple, solid plastic unit which seals the crankcase completely. The purpose is purely to meet the required emissions standards, NOT for longevity of the engine. If the tiny passages of the internal PCV system clog with sludge or frozen moisture, pressure builds above the 1-2 PSI which major seals, specifically the rear main crankshaft seal, can withstand. Pop goes the main seal, out comes your engine. The FC219 oil cap is designed to vent excessive crankcase pressure above 2-3 PSI. Amazon says this cap doesn’t fit 2010-2017 2.4L engines, they are wrong. No, it is not original specification, however it is what NEEDED to be on these engines from GM. The FC219 is not a guarantee that the PCV system on these engines won’t plug and fail. The FC219 is darn cheap maintenance to try and prevent a blown rear main seal, loss of oil and engine failure. I bought on for my used 2017 Equinox three days after buying the SUV.One EXTREMELY important point regarding all modern GDI equipped engines- fuel gets into engine oil at a much faster rate than previous fuel injected engines. Fuel dilutes oil reducing its lubricating and dirt carrying ability. Gasoline in the oil also causes the now thinner oil to get past the piston rings leading to carbon buildup in the cylinders and on the pistons. Oil thinned by gas also causes excessive timing chain wear. How do you prevent this? First- IGNORE the “oil life monitorâ€, especially on GM vehicles. The OLM specifies far too long an oil change interval. Use only fully synthetic oils meeting the May 2020 API (American Petroleum Institute) SP specification which supersedes all previous including SN Plus. The SP oil is specifically formulated to combat carbon buildup and other issues in GDI and GDI turbocharged engines. Change oil and filter every three months or at a maximum of 5,000 miles. 3,000 if your driving is all done in freezing or lower temperatures. Second- Check the oil level every 300-500 miles when you fill the gas tank ! GM does not put “Low Oil†sensors in its engines. By the time the idiot oil can light comes on, the damage is done. Third- do not use any additives to API SP engine oils in GDI engines. Finally- change the engine air filter at least every 25,000 miles if you live where it isn’t dusty, and more often in dusty areas - like places where many truckloads of coal, stone and sand roam the roads. Maintenance is far less expensive than engine replacement!

OMG! This oil cap if fantastic! When I first opened the package and feasted my eyes on it I literally jumped for joy! Tears of happiness streamed down my face. I bought it because GM delivered cars in the mid-2010’s with unvented oil caps…those scoundrels! Reading about what could happen in frigid weather to a parked car with an unvented oil cap struck fear in my heart. With my new vented one I can once again sleep at night. It fit perfectly on my 2014 Chevrolet Equinox and was worth every penny. I’m proud to call this mine!

Tight fit. Didn't really help the oil consumption problem in the Ecotech 2.4L engine

This is a pressure relieving cap. For anyone with a GDI ecotec engine with the stupid pcv opening in the mainfold that constantly gets plugged. Hopefully, this inexpensive fix will keep my rear main seal from failing. Item is as shown and fits the 2.4L ecotec engine valve cover opening. I still fixed the manifold problem, but this is some extra insurance.
