The 6.5 diesel has a sock type filter and the pn 1012 is no longer available. I replaced my tank, sending unit and sock. This looks the same as the original. It has a coarser screen than a gasoline sock does. In addition to being coarse, it has a spring loaded valve designed to open when the diesel fuel thickens at very cold temps. The suction of the lift pump increases and the valve can then open. Hope this helps. I spent a lot of time trying to locate the 1012 number.

Buy this to replace the mistake gas filter that comes on the OE replacement at yhe parts store. One of the only places to find one and best deal overall.
