About this item

  • All rotary engines (including RX7, RX8, etc.) require additional parts (counterweights) for proper function.

The Streetlite flywheel is considerably lighter than stock and is the most durable flywheel offering from ACT. Materials are properly distributed for maximum strength, lower inertia, good heat tolerance and rigidity. ACT's Streetlite flywheels are preferred for street or drag racing. ACT flywheels are serviceable and can be resurfaced with no need to purchase additional parts.

I put this flywheel on my 2002 subaru wrx along with a oem clutch. this flywheel performs very well quicker response and faster revs. with the years of expeirence i have working on subarus the light weight flywheels seem to cause phantom misfires because people dont tune the car to the parts also if you have a light weight crank pulley with the light weight flywheel you could expeirence harder take offs as in you need to feather the clutch to take off from a stop and if you do a launch and let off and disengage the clutch the rpms will fall down to about 250 and jump back to normal and some times it will just stall. but over all this is a damn good product and cheaper than a factory flywheel i will keep buying these flywheels as long as they keep making them.

Bought it for $266 directly from Amazon (which was cheaper than a OEM replacement from Subaru) along with an Exedy clutch (KSB03) for my 04 WRX. It's a good alternative to OEM replacement. At 13.9lbs, it's heavy enough for daily street driving without stalling out every time you try to take off from a stop light... given you are not using a racing clutch. I've had it installed with the new clutch for 2 weeks, and so far the set-up seems to be working good. I do feel a small difference versus the stock flywheel when starting from a complete stop namely just a tad less smooth, but not anything that someone used to driving a stick will take more than a couple of laps around the block to adjust. At the same time it does feel like there's less effort (VERY minor difference) required to rev up thanks to a 40% weight reduction.

besides being light than an oem its pretty fast when it comes to shifting but the only downside is the fly chatter since its lighter its going more rotations thus causing excessive noise coming from the transmission

Installed this on my 05 Saab 9-2x Aero AKA WRX Wagon. Good piece. Paired it with the Exedy KSB03 Clutch (OEM). Looks great but you won't know that after its installed. I get some noticeable "chatter" when decelerating in gear. After talking to other people this is pretty unavoidable and apparently mine isn't as bad as others but still noticeable. The only way to stop it is by pushing in the clutch or taking it out of gear. This isn't a problem with the piece but rather physics as it begins to vibrate because its so light. For the added benefit (faster revs) its worth the additional noise. All around happy about this purchase. If you are looking for OEM function then go with OEM and not this.

Make sure you get the right flywheel for your car. This was correct for my 04 WRX. I had it on for a few years before selling the car. Note : it will change the driving characteristics considerably. You will notice more erratic idle and some chatter (at least I did) and paired with an oem or stage one clutch your shifts will fill different. Not bad just different. Be careful not to pair with an underdrive pulley or you risk rev hang and stalling with out a proper tune.

The product looked nice and installed properly, however the fact that this flywheel is lightened caused misfires that exceeded the threshold, and subsequently the engine light and associated ECU codes popped up. Have you installed this flywheel and now seeing P0300's codes? The flywheel is the culprit.

There isn't much to say about this part other than the fact that it's a lightweight flywheel. Accelerating from a stop is a tad harder but once the car is moving the benefits of the lighter flywheel can absolutely be felt. This is a quality piece of hardware here and I'm on my second one, that should say something right there.

Review from 1000 miles of use:Lighter-then-OEM flywheel. You might read reviews mentioning clutch chatter noise, and I did notice it the first week. Now, however, I can't tell at all. Also, remember that this is for a WRX. There's a lot of sound coming into the cabin (engine, exhaust, wind, etc), and a little noise from the clutch isn't going to significantly contribute.Works well, can't complain.
