This window works really well. The tension attachment that it comes with helps keep the yarn tension consistent. It was really easy to set up and use. I also haven't had any clicking issues while winding the yarn which was a problem I had with my old winder. I think this is a pretty good product for the price.

Works as intended. I like it. Can only make small cakes though, before the yarn starts slipping off and wrapping around the base. Likely best for skeins you have already used half of. For larger cakes you will need to look elsewhere.

I bought this because I had a big project that I needed to wind 2 skiens of fingering weight together. This made the process so easy and quick.

I feel like this winder is a better version of the standard winder. None of the winders that have to be tension clamped to a table edge will have the type of stability we're looking for, but this one has a nifty non-slip runner grip that helps prevent scuffs. The adjustable yarn guide makes it easier and more convenient to position the yarn winder the way I want and also helps while holding the winder down while I'm turning the crank (this has to be done with all of the winders so I don't count this against the design.) I also think that the way the base of the spoon is shaped makes it easier to pull the cake off the spoon, and I haven't had any issues with the yarn jumping off the edge and getting tangled in the mechanisms because they were covered. Overall it's a comparable price and better quality than the standard winder and I'm switching to these.

I was disappointed that the winder's clamp did not seem to secure it very well. I had it clamped on a very smooth surface and it slipped. I will try it again on a wooden one to see if that makes a difference. Sometimes the spindle would knock against the yarn guide rod; I ended up holding the rod out of the way of the spindle. One of the tension guides adjusted as it should, the other didn't at first and I am not sure that it is working correctly even though I tried to adjust it. So overall it didn't work as easily as I had hoped. But that being said, it was certainly easier and faster than winding the yarn ball by hand. And the ball did come out very even and tight.

Having never used a winder, I was uncertain of how useful one would be. After 60 years of hand winding yarn and untanging yarn barfs, I can truely appreciate this little gadget. The resulting cakes are neatly wound.Never too old to learn.I am not sure how well it will hold up to my constant use...but it is worth the small investment. It fits well on the ar of my rocking chair.

I finally decided to take the plunge and get a ball winder and swift and I'm so glad I did! It could take me close to an hour to wind a skein of sock yarn by hand by myself, slightly less if someone is holding the yarn for me, but with this ball winder I did 13 skeins of yarn in the same time it would have taken me to do one! They were made up of worsted weight as well as fingering weight yarn and the winder worked equally well for both types. Winding balls this way was life changing from doing it manually. I'm very happy to have finally made the transition. The ball winder came with instructions but I found it intuitive enough that I didn't need to read them. The trick would be to leave yourself a long enough tail when you first anchor the yarn to the winder. I left too short a tail on one of my balls and the whole ball ending up popping off the top of the swift about 2/3 in, so I had to wind the rest by hand. Keeping an even speed when winding also means you will get more consistently sized balls. It was simple enough that my seven year old was able to turn the crank for a few skeins until she got bored. I would recommend protecting the surface of the table where you attach the clamp if you have a finished/varnished surface as I could see it marring the top. I used a piece of cardboard on top of the table and clamped the winder over top of it and it worked very well.

Der wickler tut was er soll.. er wickelt wolle auf. die Fadenführung ist an einer ungünstigen stelle, was aber nach kurzer eingewöhnung gut funktioniert. die haptik ist gut und bisher quitscht auch nix.

Nothing to dislike. Great balls of..........wool. I have wound loads of wool on mine. Simple to use.The 4 minute run time a great feature. Saves setting it off forgetting you did and winding a ball of gigantic proportions. Plus the exercise gained from getting up and down to switch on again can only be good. No reservation in recommending this. I cannot see how the more expensive machines could do better. Worth every penny

J'adore mon bobinoir ! Quelle invention...

It is definitely not the easiest thing to use. The clamp at the bottom keeps on coming off after spinning for a while and I have to keep on tightening the clamp. The clamp needs to be bigger for easier usage.
