Using this fan for attic ventilation and works great. Simply installation, low noise and really moves some air

Out of the box, installation is difficult with just one person. It's easier to just have someone hold the fan while you screw it in. The fan doesn't rattle or shake at all, the blades are perfectly balanced. It's relatively quiet for what it does. If you're in the same room, you're gonna notice it. If I'm in a different room, I barely notice it if at all.Since I've had it, I'm able to get away with no AC until temps enter the mid-80s. You can feel it moving air through the entire floor it's on. Ultimately I'd say its worth a shot. It sounds like some people get some with unbalanced blades, but overall it's well constructed, and has been well worth the money for me!

7/6/17 : Fan motor died last night. We got four years of seasonal use out of this unit. I installed it and left it in the window all year long. So for about 3.00 a month this unit saved me what we'd spend on electric for central air or 3 window units in our house + the initial cost of the AC units themselves. We think it was worth it. Will buy again. This unit works the best if its kept clean. Ours got alot of dirt build up on the frame and blades. Also dirt accumulates on the window screen where air is pulled in from outside. If those three things are kept clean (Maybe 2 hours of clean up at the end of each season) the unit moves air like new each season.May 2016: The first one we recieved was fryed, right out of the box. The box had a big dent in one corner. The fan itself looked fine but only 3 of its six speeds worked. The fan didnt have a template with it either.Amazon shipped me a new one right away. The second arrived in better shape, no major dings or dents to the box. Some of the screws were missing so I had to pirate from the DOA fan. But it did have the template which made installation a snap. The fan works fine now. Cools the downstairs down pretty quick in our 1000 sq ft. home. (We dont use our upstairs much). We've had it about 3 weeks and no problems, as long as we remember to keep enough windows open in the house when its on exhaust. Its a powerful fan and the motor strains if you dont give it enough supply air, creating some noise. Thats operator error NOT a manufacturer defect!I'd still recommend this to anyone with a smaller home that wants to cool their home on sub 85 degree days. Eighty five and up, especially with humidity...turn on the AC.

First off, I purchased three of these, the effectiveness you experience may not be as great if just getting one.I love these fans, I have all three installed in the back 3 bedrooms of my house. I typically run on on exhaust mode. For intake source, I leave two large windows that are on the side of the house which has a giant shade tree which seems to cool the air a bit. When I stand in front of these windows it feels as though a fan is blowing on me but its all from air intake. The hallway leading to the the back bedrooms feels like a wind tunnel! Before these fans I would usually need to flip on the AC when outside temperatures reached 80 to 84 degrees Fahrenheit depending on humidity. With these fans I can stand outside temperatures up to around 90 to 94 degrees, again depending on humidity. I'm not saying I feel extremely comfortable when it's 94 out, it's just bearable enough, your mileage may vary. The inside thermostat also usually reads about roughly 10 degrees cooler than what the current weather conditions are saying. These things really shine during the cooler nights.... Mid august in central Illinois and my wife was consistently complaining about it being too cold in the house at night! I think its perfect.I have been using the cheaper (~$50) windows fans for a long time, I discovered these and would never go back. They may be almost 3x as much but they deliver.Cons.. 1. Installation instructions are terrible. 2. Mounting requires putting screws in your window frames. 3. Can make a rattling noise if not situated right, also watch out for loose screws, this can also cause excessive rattling.

Likes: Fan is heavy duty and well made, easy to set desired setting, pretty quiet for a fan that moves a great amount of air. Box fans, even twin fans cannot move air like this one! It mounts across the window frame where the fan does not interfere with the window movement. As you can see from the picture, the fan is in front of the window and allows the window to move freely behind the fan instead of fitting directly in the window-well. ** It would be nice though to have a version with the use of a remote control.Tips: Open a non-fan window and put fan on exhaust and the air will rush in from the non-fan window; keep any window curtain away from the fan's front because they will interfere with the air flow. On intake, other non-fan windows will exhaust out air in other rooms to freshen them.

I have bought this fan 3 times over the past 10 years. Love it. Fits my window perfectly. I 've had it on low Exhaust all day every day even in the winter. Any one that wants to have odor free air in their room needs to try this fan for them selves

Negative air pressure ftw.We have it installed in the 3rd floor attic window. All it takes is opening a window on the first floor, on the shady side of the house and the fresh air streams through the entire house. You can literally feel the breeze. It greatly helps cooling and airing the entire three floors. Would totally recommend it.

This is a real window fan. It's powerful and quiet...unfortunately it was far too large for my window and had to be returned.Air King should really make a 9 inch smaller version of this fan. No other fan comes close to this one...
