God send for anyone with a puppy who is trying to train them right and avoid accidents inside. We got our dog at just 6 weeks old and started him on this while he was in the house. He is a poodle/shih-tzu mix. Once they use it 2-3 times, they will return to it on their own. Just be sure to reward them when they use it. We still took him outside too but wanted him to know that while in the house, he could use this. This is especially great when there is inclement weather outside. That's why IMO, it's good to train them to use this pad too. We crated trained him from the beginning and I implemented this into his crate as well by cutting away an opening in his crated divider so he could cross over and use it while in the crate. That way, there was no mess in the crate and it enforced his training as well. Worked out great. Now he is completely house broken at 9mos old. Just be patient with them. This pad really helped us out tremendously and I would highly recommend it.

These potty trays are a game changer. They connect for size customization. The perforated insert means no wet paws. Line with disposable potty pads. When soiled, Spray and wipe down the perforated insert with dog urine spray (I like Skout’s Honor). Once a month, clean the inserts in a utility sink.A wonderful option for puppies, incontinent or senior dogs, or you want your dog to be indoor and outdoor potty trained.

My daughter's Pomeranian puppy was going through potty mats in another tray/holder like a tornado through a trailer park. My wife started doubling them up, then putting two trays in the puppy pen for redundancy. She was going through sixteen potty mats per day. She was ready to give up and send the puppy back to the breeder.I moved the puppy pen into my (tile-floored) office, and ordered one of these trays. We were immediately down to two potty mats per day.It wasn't perfect. Bored little puppy occasionally figures out how to pop the grating off. When he got his technique down to where he could do it every other day, I ordered some 2-inch bulldog binder clips, put one on each side, and removed the clip levers. Smaller bulldog clips do not reach far enough to grab the underside of the tray: 2-inch does the trick and grips firmly enough that he can't pull them off. When my daughter does _her_ duty for _her_ puppy (he just lives in my office... not my dog. I'm a cat person.), she takes the tray out of the pen, put the levers back in the clips, and removes them easily, then she replaces the potty mat.The potty mats we have are a bit big for the tray. The important thing is to fold the edges down and make sure no part of the mat is protruding, or the little chewer can pull the mat out sideways. But if you've properly tucked it in, he has nothing to grab. The engagement of the handles to the tray is excellent, but it can still be popped off by a 8-lb dog if he gets some leverage. If I was going to make an improvement, I'd put some kind of twistable locking mechanism on the BOTTOM of the tray, something that would engage a slot in the clip-handle of the tray. It wouldn't have to be much, as the snap-on fit is pretty good. Important thing is to give the dog nothing to get his teeth on, and prevent him from using the leverage of his jaw to pop off the grating. The bulldog clips are a good stopgap; he hasn't found a way to defeat them in over a week.

The mechanics on this were well thought out compared to other pads that use grates. It’s important for the grate’s underside to have “legsâ€, or raised areas to keep the grate from simply pushing down on the soiled pad and exposing my pup’s paws to it. The fact that it’s raised slightly is just enough so that her paws stay as clean as possible. The color is vibrant, the assembly is 1-2-3, and the unit serves its purpose with confidence. If you have an outdoor hose, cleaning is pretty easy. I spray all 3 pieces, on all sides, with diluted bleach and let it sit for a few minutes. Then I give it a good rinse with the hose set to jet and DONE!I bought this type of potty pad from another seller a couple years ago but if I need another, I’ll be buying it from these guys.

I purchased this for a rabbit with arthritis who can’t get into his normal litter box well. The grate is a very flimsy plastic and the openings are so small that his poops just sit on top. Easy to clean, easy to disassemble and put back together.

Very useful tool, especially for a busy family on the go. Easy to clean and very convenient. No more messy clean up.

I wish we had bought this first! We started our puppy with a grass pad that was on a tray. He took to it right away, but the drainage was horrible, so his feet were always wet and we had footprints all over our vinyl floor. gross. Then, when he turned about 16 weeks, he started scratching at the grass pad and chewing it. He swallowed some, threw up some, passed some, etc. Gross and super scary when he threw up a chunk of grass and rubber backing.I sprayed some potty here spray on the grate of the new potty, and placed a small piece of his last poo on there so that he had some of his own scent. He had no problem using it right away. We are using the Glad for Pets Black Charcoal Puppy Pads | Puppy Potty Training Pads That ABSORB & NEUTRALIZE Urine Instantly | New & Improved Quality Puppy Pee Pads, 150 count. They fit pretty well and the grate keeps him from being able to get to the pad. The feet on the new potty keep it from slipping on the smooth concrete. It will be so nice not to have to rinse the grass pads. They smelled like the fish cleaning stands at the pier. lol. I am not thrilled about having more stuff (disposable pads) to throw away, but for now this is the best solution for us. We have a pet door to the garage. with an enclosure around the potty. My husband is home full time, but this way, he doesn't have to constantly open the patio door to let the puppy out. Plus, winter in Iowa is not a fun time to do that anyway. Our puppy can run to the garage whenever his small bladder tells him to. And NO WET FEET!!! yay!
