Nice quality all brass rough in for shower and tub. (Could be used just for a shower or a tub.) Has integral stops which is nice - no need to turn off all the water in the house if you need to service the unit. Easy hook up with Copper, PEX or threaded pipe. Just remember to temporarily remove the stops before you solder anything to the shower body so you don't damage them with heat.

i would have thought this would have been sold with the shower but it wasn't and that's fine, it servered its purpose.

Works great. I did some research with the docs included in the trim kit (American Standard TU075500.295 Colony PRO Valve Only Trim Kit with Cartridge, Brushed Nickel found here on Amazon). The trim kit's instructions state that the part number is M970640-0070A or M970410-0070A. I did some searching and could not find it directly on Amazon. I finally found it - the valve cartridge has part # M954803 on the package. This can be found on the vendor's website as well as online auction sites :) As of this review I couldn't find it directly on Amazon.The M954803 valve I bought works perfectly. I hope this will help others since the documentation seems rather sparse.The quality of the valve is very nice - it has no "wiggle" at the stop, and is very nice and snug when moving the valve. I really like it.

This is a nice valvecbut if you are not a plumber there are no instructions anywhere nor online about how to handle the valve when you flip the unit over. It's a great idea but it isn't for the DIY'er

Apparently, American Standard has a relationship with Grohe products. The Grohe valve for my shower trim kit did not fit with the existing construction of the walls. Fortunately, I learned that the American Standard valve fits and solved the retrofitting dilemma. I am very happy with American Standard products. I replaced all my toilets with Amercian Standard brand, including replacing a Kohler toilet that kept malfunctioning.

Amazon description stating this RU107ESS version is for cold expansion pex is wrong--per American Standard website the ru107ess is for pex crimp system. Great quality product--i used it with the TU385500.002 (trim and valve) kit. The handle on the trim kit feels like solid brass and when you turn the valve it is super smooth. I've started using American Standard in most of my projects--seems to be one of the few remaining manufacturers who make products that have a feel of quality. PS: If looking for a bath vanity faucet: I've used American Standard 7385.000.002 Reliant as a lavatory faucet for years--another great quality product--drain is different than most and uses a cable system--which works well for me and installs fast in new installations.

Usually I don’t have a problem with American standard valve. But this new design is honestly a crap design. I’m a child of a master plumber and have been plumbing for 15 years, and now I remodeled bathrooms with my brother so I do a lot of shower installs. And the way this valve is made with the screwdriver stops is poor design. Because I’ve tried two different valves exactly the same and both of them leak out of the screwdriver stops. Stops are not made like the other stops on valves I have installed before. My professional advice is always go Delta or Kohler.
