This is a 200-piece very nice microscope prepared slide set of various plants, insects and animal tissues. The slides are coverslipped and preserved in cedar wood oil. They are premium, accurately stained and machine cleaned slides that will give a sharp image. All slides are carefully labeled for easy reference and are arranged in a fine crafted varnished wooden case with brass hardware. This slide set is a rare mix of 200 prepared slides from which students can find a lot of fun. This slide set is excellent for educational use and is perfect for all levels of student study including home school program. It is brand new from the manufacturer instead of seconds or salvage. There is no risk of contamination from previous use. Its retail value is $450.

Well prepared slides; all are labeled; all are visible even under high magnification. Well worth the cost. Would order other slides if available. Would give as a gift to any biology enthusiast.

I like this slide set. The variety is great, the slides are prepared well, and the boxes are good. My only problem is the dividing board between the two rows of slides in each box. It isn't secured, but just sits there in place and the slots the slides fit in are a little too deep so the board can slip back and forth between the two rows of slides; completely releasing a whole row of slides at a time in the box. Both boxes arrived this way. I will be gluing or stapling this divider in place so the slides are no longer released if it moves. This will be an easy fix, but I wish it arrived with this divider secured (or the slide slots were cut a little less deep so they don't have as much play and hold the divider in place).I would purchase this product again.

The slides appear to be well mounted and easy to see, but I had to clean them ALL off when I received them today. The good news? if I wanted to find out who packaged them in such crappy condition I always have their fingerprints since they were on EVERY SLIDE. And WAY out of order... Can't quite understand why plant and animal and Protista were all mixed together in any old order... I would have thought one box would have been plant, the other animal... Going to take a while to organize and label where I want them. All griping aside? They were really well mounted and labeled. Aside from the clean-up, I do feel I got what I paid for out of them without having to mount my own slides.

I purchased this set for Christmas along with a new family microscope. I am very pleased with the quality of this set. The cases are constructed well with brass hinges and latches and hold 100 samples each for a total of 200. The slots are numbered and each slide is numbered and labeled so you know exactly what each slide is and where it belongs. We haven't had a chance to look at all the slides yet since we look at each under three different magnifications and we take turns panning all around the slides using the mechanical stage. My 9 year old son is very interested in these slides and he really enjoys placing the eyepiece pointer on a particular point and then ask me to look at something neat he discovered within the sample. We've only looked at a handful of slides but I feel like I got a great deal in this set. Especially compared to small sets packed in cardboard that cost over $1.50 for EACH slide!

Extremely dirty slides. The quality is poor. The wooden cases are nice, but one of them arrived with a shattered separator, but somehow without a broken slide.

Wow, here is a huge collection of slides for those budding scientists. You will have to do a little sorting and labeling but that is part of science too. Also make sure the box is opened with the slides at the bottom.

First of all, I had errors with this package the first time and had to contact Amazon for a replacement. But after that, I received it perfectly. It does indeed come with storage to hold 200 prepared slides that fit all standard microscopes, most of the slides were pretty interesting to view, but some looked the exact same as others. I can't really say if it's worth the money, but it's decently made and can provide fun for hours. These slides can definitely be used for teaching purposes effectively, and they are very easy to use with the proper equipment. Overall a 7/10 product at best.

These arrived in perfect condition. There is a foam sheet laid inside the cover protecting the slides, and both boxes were taped shut over the latches, and packaged inside a cardboard sleeve (making it very hard to open inside their shipping box). Mine had the name Amscope printed on the outside of each wooden box in red ink (Amscope also makes decent microscope products). Each slide that I looked at had the appropriate item on it, although some were a little hard to find (some of the pollen samples were only on a small portion of the slide, and if the microscope wasn't focused and in the proper area of the slide, it would appear empty). The only problem/gripe that I have is that some of the words are misspelled, probably due to a non-English-speaking person typing up the words to the slide labels, and the words not being checked before mass-production (for example, Aut instead of Ant- for someone looking only for the correct letter, it might appear as if a 'u' is an 'n' at a quick glance). Other than that, the slides themselves are great.*Also, these were bought for a boy who is almost five, and kept his interest for over an hour on just the first day. Of course, if the person has a short attention span, doesn't like self-taught learning, or has been kept entertained with a constant stream of electronic amusement, this item and an accompanying microscope will get shoved into a closet, or more tragically, end up at Goodwill or the garbage can really fast. For that kind of person, I'd choose something a little lower in total educational immersion but still with the same interest-growing possibilities (maybe Magic School Bus DVDs, some LeapPad cartridges, or a toy that gives an immediate reward for little output- Snap Circuits, Magnext, or a Cranium company toy).

Not all slides were great and I thought there could have been more variety. But my daughter really likes it.No other option to get so many prepared slides.
