This Anderson Metals coupling compression tube fitting is made of brass, has a flared tube connection and a female NPT connection, and is suitable for use with fuel and gas systems. It is made of brass for corrosion resistance, ductility at high temperatures, and low magnetic permeability. This fitting can be used with copper, brass, aluminum, or steel tubing to connect two tubes of the same diameter in a straight run. It has a flared tube connection on one end and a female National Pipe Taper (NPT) connection on the other, creating a tighter seal than straight threads. This fitting is part of an assembly that resists mechanical pullout for a more secure connection, and can be assembled and reassembled without affecting the seal. This coupling compression tube fitting has an operating temperature range of -65 to +250 degrees F and is suitable for use with fuel and gas systems, plumbing, refrigeration, and vacuum applications.

Tube fittings are components used for connecting, branching, terminating, and changing the direction of tubing in pneumatic and hydraulic systems. They are made of brass, stainless steel, PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), and other materials that resist corrosion and wear. Tube fittings have various types of connections, including threaded, welded, barbed, and push-to-connect (also called one-touch). Push-to-connect connections do not require tools or sealants. Tube fittings are used in various applications, including machine tools, airplane and truck controls, and automated production lines, among others.

Anderson Metals manufactures brass fittings, valves, and pipe nipples. The company, founded in 1951, is headquartered in Kansas City, MO.

I have a natural gas kitchen cooktop that suddenly developed a gas leak after about 50 years, because the flare fitting cracked for some unknown reason. This 3/8 in flare x 1/2 in npt fitting arrived within a couple of days, and I was able to repair the leak with very little effort.

The description of the item does not fit what's in the package. Package reads 3/8X1/2 FE COUP. Item description is 3/4" Flare x 1/2" NPT Female. I should have listened to the other reviews. But this is Amazon, I would have thought the description would have been fixed by now. I was wrong :(
