Needed a new antenna for the pontoon rebuild project and with the new helm I wanted to make sure I get a small antenna that can be tucked off to the side in between the rails so this was actually the perfect fit for my needs. I haven't hooked up to a new Velez Marine radio and while I have not gone offshore & and cannot speak on the NM range, I have had no issues picking up every major radio station in the region. The previous owner of the boat had one of those stubby 2-in antennas and I wasn't able to get any reception on it whatsoever but with this antenna I'm picking up radio stations an hour and a half away. I'm sure that has to do with the fact that it's a digital receiver but clearly the antenna is good enough quality to make the radio function unlike the junk stubby antenna that came with the boat. Item is exactly as described so I have nothing bad to say which would justify taking stars away.
