I bought this tool after buying two other multi function harmonic balancer tool kits. One was OEM sold by Autozone ( $46) and the other was the high end Matrix Kit sold by Harbor Freight ($89). While both kits had adapters with correct threads, neither would fit inside my crank snout. The the ARES 15088 does fit and function. This is the tool you will need. Its a nice tool that I would guess would survive at least 50 installs, maybe more. I would definitely recommend this tool for and LS builder.

It worked really good with lubed up threads but it got to a point where the bolt was too long and I couldn’t get the socket on it anymore. I got it on about half way and then just used the normal bolt to send it home. That could have been my fault… not sure? But over all it worked good and the bearing held up nicely. I read a lot of people complaining that it broke but mine was fine. I’ve only used it once though.

Take your time, lube the threads before each use and use a socket with ratchet.I lent mine out to a buddy. Well, he didn’t lube it or use a socket and ratchet. He used an impact and DESTROYED it !Lessons learned

I was a little tentative about this tool. I've seen similar tools that are good for one use and the thrust bearing and/or threads are shot.But that wasn't the case here. I made sure to add additional lube to the thrust bearing and threads to ensure smooth operation and hopefully more life and it worked flawlessly. The bearing and threads looked basically untouched afterwards.

Bearing doesn't feel smooth rotating by hard.Haven't used yet. We'll see how it performs.
