We're in our 50's and want to get back into bike riding. Since we're starting back up after years, we decided to go electric and bought two used electric bikes. Unfortunately the original owners put them together from a box kit and got the instructions wrong. So we needed to take them to a bike shop and have them looked over/fixed.Hence my sudden research into bike racks. We decided on the Arksen because of the ability to tilt. We thought it would be helpful loading our large heavy bikes onto it.My first impression on opening the box was they took some pains to try to be sustainable. There were only a few foam inserts for cushioning. The rest was heavy duty cardboard. VERY heavy duty. In some places they used two boards glued together. The instructions were very well written, except for a minor issue of what tools to use. The instructions do say you'll need a box wrench and an Allen wrench, but they don't say WHAT SIZE! I imagine anyone with a standard "bicycle repair kit" would have the tools, but mine hadn't arrived yet, so I had to do some searching to find the right sizes. Other than that, assembly went very smoothly.Once I got it installed on my car, I put the bike on it. Each bike weighs nearly 75 pounds so all in all it was the about weight of a full grown person sitting on our hitch. The bike rack handled it with no issues. Next I was impressed by the amount of straps the rack has. Once I was done wrapping and tightening everything both bikes were locked to the rack and didn't move an inch.I mistakenly left my car's rear hatch open, so I needed to try out the "tilt" feature right away. Tilting was difficult, but that's because the release pin had 150 pounds of bike standing on it. But once I got the pin out tilting went very smoothly. I got the hatch closed with room to spare and was able to tilt the bikes back up.Finally, security. I didn't plan on leaving the bikes alone for any amount of time, but I did like all the security measures this rack has. The rack itself "locks" into the car's hitch. No amount of jostling will remove it, unless you have a key. The bikes themselves are "locked" to the rack by two downward pressure bars, also locked with the same key.For the price I paid, I found this a well put together, well designed bike rack, using quality steel and only plastic where necessary. It was also packaged thoughtfully. If anyone asks, this is the rack I'd recommend to them.

We currently use this product for mountain bikes in the hopes we’ll get e-bikes soon. The hitch sits solid in the receiver. You screw a bolt in on the side to keep in place then turn a knob on the hitch to tighten solid then lock. It’s easy to assemble and also adjust tire holders to fit any bike. The bars the come down the center post to hold bike onto carrier work effortlessly and they lock into place with a key. My only issues are that the straps that hold the wheels in place fall out too easy. I wish there was a way they could be made to stay in place so they don’t fall out while trying to put wheels in place. Also, the bolts on the adjusting knobs can fall out if you don’t constantly check to make sure they’re tightened. Other than that it’s a great hitch worth the 5 stars plus it has a 300 pound plus weight rating which gives me a strong sense of security and safety when carrying heavier bikes. Really enjoy the tilt function as well as being able to fold it forward so it doesn’t have to be removed but also be able to open the rear cargo door so long as you tilt it back. It’s a great investment and one I’m glad I made. I did lose a bolt for the tire holder adjustment. You can’t get it at Lowe’s or Home Depot you have to get it from the company. I called them, told them what happened and within 2 days it was on its way to me. Worth the phone call and short wait. I give it 2 thumbs up.

This bike rack is priced at about 1/3 of the big brand versions and works great. Two bikes can easily be loaded and unloaded. The rack can be lowered to permit access to the car’s trunk, and has a clever locking mechanism inside the hitch receiver. The metal and welds and plastic wheel holsters and straps appear to be good quality. Several critical parts are plastic though, and I suspect they will break in relatively short time. I’d be much more comfortable recommending this if I could easily buy replacement plastic parts at a good price.

We have two E-Bikes with the fat tires. They are heavy and this rig works great. It's a little complicated at first to figure out how to get it to work, and it's pretty heavy (needs to be), but I'd recommend.

Just assembled and mounted our bikes to this well built, designed and reasonably priced e-bike hitch rack. Handled my wife’s e-bike (55 bs.) and my trek road bike easily. No wobble or rattle. Hitch locking mechanism is great and easy. Support arms are strong and lock down as well. Easy break down and fold up. Spent a lot of time researching and am very happy with my choice. Now, this is with no road test. Will follow up on this review after. I’m confident it will be good.

I was looking for a very stable platform to transport my bikes and spotted this one. It looked to be what I was looking for and had a good price point so I ordered it. It's very well built and super-easy to assemble. The directions are very clear (although I had to really stare down how the wheel holders went onto the support arm). Star to finish it probably took me a half hour. You'll need a 17mm socket and a metric set of allen wrenches. That's pretty much it for tools. The only sticking point to the assembly was getting the rack mount to fit into the reciever on the back of my vehicle. I had to use a hammer and tap on the compression fitting on the rack so it would fit into the receiver on my SUV. I also used lithium grease on the receiver to help things slide a bit easier. The rack folds up out of the way very easily and it also tips down to open the back hatch and/or tailgate without having to remove the entire rack. Very solid piece of equipment and I'm very pleased so far.
