The original owners of our house didn't bother with an electrical box for wiring the patio light fixture. I wanted to avoid cutting into the siding and this mounting box was the perfect fit for our needs. It is a hefty, densely solid piece of plastic that appears to be well-built to weather the elements. It will not fit every type of siding perfectly, so there will always be some gap that needs to be filled in with caulking, but it was a relatively easy job. There is plenty of room in the box for the wiring and wire nuts.I could not find this type of product in any hardware store I visited and I was glad that Amazon shipped this to my location. I am happy with this purchase and will gladly recommend it to anyone who is looking for an ad hoc solution for their lighting needs.

Worked great! I didn't use the little black plastic wire holder.

Lined up fine on my Hardie siding. I had the drywall off on the inside of the wall anyway, so I added a block of wood between studs to screw the mounting block to for support. Plenty of space to run wires into & use wire nuts for connections.Painted the mounting block with paint that’s the same color as the siding & caulked the top & sides. Looks great.I needed to buy a fixture mounting bracket (like a cross bar) for about $5 since my light didn’t come with one & the mounting block didn’t come with one. The bracket screws to the mounting block, then the light screws to the bracket.

Generally speaking, these are probably the best solution to having to mount something on siding. I had a light that I spent an hour cutting the hole out to mount a light. I found these on Amazon, and BAM! no more having to cut siding to mount lights. Since I am in the process of replacing all exterior lights I plan to buy more. I would have given the item 5 stars, but the plastic seems like it will easily break so great care has to be taken to insure it wont break and the mounting holes do not allow for any variation. Since I am using these over old holes I had to screw through the plastic to make it work. Additionally, the opening is about 1/8 of an inch too big. The lights I have were just barely big enough to cover the opening.

I have installed lights before on siding and the work of cutting, installing fixture boxes, cutting a mounting plate, sealing and refinishing is extremely time consuming. I used these recently to mount lights on siding to the sides of a double garage door. Drilling a hole in the siding where the mounting kit was to be placed was a breeze. Some fireproof foam filled the hole. The siding box fit nicely and snugly over the siding and the addition of a no-slip wire insert for the wire through the standard conduit breakouts was easy. A little caulking around the top and sides of the kit sealed it and it accepted matching paint of the siding. In addition, it looks nice and has a clean finished look. Literally it took a quarter of the time and energy to what it has usually taken to complete similar projects. The owner of the house was impressed with both the look and the speed with which the job was completed.

I used a couple of these kits to rectify a poor installation of outdoor wall lighting on my home. The builder had simply mounted a couple of flood lights directly on top of siding - UGH - what was he thinking? These mounting kits work like a charm and help make the associated lighting installation look tidy and professional. I'm glad I purchased a couple of these kits and I highly recommend them based on my personal experience. Make sure you understand your siding profile and dimensions before you order as the kit needs to be matched EXACTLY to get a good result. Also, PLEASE make sure you know how to safely work on your household wiring too! If you don't, or you're not qualified, hire a professional electrician - stay safe!

This is great for adding a light. No need to cut siding or put in a box. Saves time and money. Easy to install and sturdy.

It fit my 5/16" lap siding perfectly. At most, I had a 1/32" gap. It's a great solution. I used it to install my Ring Cam Plus which had to be installed with straight across fixture screws when using the hardwire kit. So I had to drill a couple of holes in it to make it work. No big deal but it would be nice if this had screw holes for both offset and straight across mounting. It's also a little pricey for a piece of moulded plastic, but it was the best solution.

I had to mount two sensor lights for the backyard. It is an old house, and there is no backyard lighting at all. It is a new installation. I had to run wires from the electrical box in the basement, up to the attic, then out to the back of the house. The Arlington Vertical Siding Lamp Mounting Kit made my life so much easier, without the need of opening up a big hole on the siding for a electrical box. All I needed was to drill a small hole on the siding for the electrical wire to come through from the attic. The assembly is plastic, and made both electrical and weather insulation worry-free. And it keeps the sensor light in upright position. My sidings are 1/2" deep. It is important to order the proper one. The assembly comes with a simple instruction. My suggestion to Arlington is: please make use of the instruction sheet by printing a drilling template for the mounting holes and the wire feed-through holes on it. It would help taking the guess work out. That was what I had done when I mounted the two fixtures. Cost-wise, it is a bit expensive, but it does make the installation nice and neat!

trusted brand. not sure if its any better than the slightly more affordable competition. fits ok to my vinyl siding. they have clear documentation as to which sizes they have and its easy to match the correct size to your siding. has a small weep channel in the bottom. instructions could be a bit better for the inexperienced. this is a small mount, i installed a small floodlight off amazon. the only issue i found is that the included grounding plate that would ground any metal mounting bracket your fixture might use increased the perimeter profile by several mm, which may allow for water penetration. there's several ways around this like caulk or better yet, removing it and grounding your metal bracket another way. its a bit disappointing that Arlington's solution doesn't just work seamlessly. note this is the small mount, so there's not really much space, your fixture is likely going to be pressed against their grounding bracket. on a larger mount with a larger fixture this is probably not an issue.

Fantastic device. Allowed me to setup wired security camera above my garage without installing a big ugly box. All I needed to do was drill a 1/2” hole through the wall to feed the wires, feed through the box, attach the box, and attach the camera. Done. Honestly took about 10 minutes to get everything done and looks great - fantastic device.

We bought these for our renovation project and our previous homeowner mounted lights directly to the angled vinyl plates so they were all crooked. These easily fixed the problem and the plates can be easily spray painted to match the wall color
