The application is a rare one-odd metric thread size. This tap worked perfectly. I have it secured in a special location since I'll be needing it again. Excellent quality product and easy to use.

I used my ARP 912-0004 Thread Cleaning Chaser to clean the threads on my '03 Subaru Forester engine before replacing the OEM head bolts with ARP studs. I found that the head bolt holes' threads were corroded and filthy near the bottom. I could not get the ARP studs to seat correctly without running and bottoming this thread chaser into each bolt hole. The OEM head bolts don't reach deep enough to engage all the threads that the ARP studs will use. This thread chaser cleaned those unused threads properly and allowed me to set the ARP studs per the installation instructions.The tap isn't long enough to extend above the block when tapping all the way down into the head bolt hole. I just used the female side of a 1/4" socket extension to drive the tap all the way down to the bottom of the head bolt hole; no special tools needed!

Had some buggered threads on my engine. Used this and cleared up everything so I could install my head studs.

Crazy expensive for what it is but it seems like the only one available in this size anywhere. It worked well and seems well made.

This thread chaser worked great but it is not 6 inches long as described in the details area. It is more like 3 inches long. I had to use a socket extension to be able to use it in the engine block and reach the bottom of the threading.

You need this to chase the threads and clean up the threads before you lube and install your head studs.100% Recommended so you can torque the studs to spec.
