Very Powerful 4" by 3/4 HP Pneumatic Cut Off tool. Astro Part # 409.I've had time to run this tool for a better tool review. Simply said it is kick butt powerful. Didn't bog down even though I got into it with some thick metals. Really pleased with the grip, performance and fit and feel. My hands are worn tough and calloused and I'm sure some mechanics know what that means, we loose some feeling in our hands now and again. This cut off tool is solid in the grip and easy as heck to use and I like the Quick Change disk feature, A Lot! It's Hard Work - Made Simple. If you're looking for or thinking of getting a new Cut Off tool - give this guy a shot. You will like the warranty coverage too. Astor stands by their tools.

I have owned a number of cut off tools. This one is the best by far. I like that you can easily flip the guard so as to flip the direction of the cut off wheel. This might not make a whole lot of sense until you use the tool. This operation helps you to access more area in close quarters.

This cutoff tool is able to grind through virtually any material. I used it on galvanized stainless, and it was zipping through without breaking the cutoff wheels. It is far superior to 3In cutoff wheels, and it generates high rpms to cut through the steel as if it wasn't even there. And yes, itdoes save you time and money over less expensive 3 in cutoff wheels that snap every few minutes. I cut 3 pieces of metal with this tool on one disk, and I had snapped 12 disks on the other cutoff wheel.

I really like this sander. It gets places doing body work I had to do by hand. Much faster with this sander. Wish I bought one sooner

Cuts nice straight lines through exhaust pipes and with the easily adjustable guard I can get the whole way around the exhaust pipe while its still attached to the car, making installations of new mufflers fast and easy. And makes VERY short work cutting sheet metal to down size.Only downside I can think of is that it goes through cutting discs fast, so you should have a large supply on hand.

The CFM rating on this tool (5.5CFM @ 90PSI) is reasonable for a supposed 3/4 HP tool. Unfortunately, the tool is extremely anemic and absolutely gulps air. I have a standard 4" cutoff grinder from an American manufacturer that uses under 4CFM, is rated at 1/2 HP, and has noticeably more power than this tool. The Astro Pneumatic grinder has a transversely mounted motor (it isn't losing power through a gearbox); it seems that it's just a typical cheap, low-efficiency motor. The blade guard quick-release is nicely designed, but the guard itself is horrible - the welds cracked after about 30 minutes of use (with no impact). The integrated arbor lock (doesn't require both an Allen key and wrench for a blade change) is nice, but some part of the assembly rotates internally when loosening/tightening the cutoff wheel - this is a little worrisome. All in all, this tool is somewhat usable, but I'd pay fifty percent more to get a better designed, more powerful (or at least more efficient) tool.

Bought this after seeing it on South Main Auto on YouTube and as usual Astro came through, works great!

This thing has become the go to tool for cutting straight lines in metal. Super easy to control and follow out traced lines. Very clean cuts.

so here is the problem. I went to use the tool for masonry cutting. Most 4" blades have the knock-out center so you can use either a 5/8' bore or 7/8" bore saw. Although the tool will accept a 5/8" bore if you attempt to use one of these blades it will not tighten onto the tool as it will only tighten onto the knockout ring. then of course the blade will free-wheel on to the blade knockout ring. the tool needs to increase the size of the inside shaft and outside bushing so as to be able to tighten onto the saw blade and not onto the knockout ring. severally limits the blades you can use.
