It worked perfectly. If you really wanted you could probably make one, but this kit worked great. It's also nice that the tap and reamer have depth guides.It has a reamer that's used like a drill bit, a cylinder shape guide that keeps the reamer centered (it has a thing sticking of the side that keeps it from spinning. It really wouldn't hurt anything if it did spin) , and a tap.I used it on a v10 so I had to buy more 389-100 thread insets. I ended up buying a cheap WASTOREEL brand on Amazon. Those inserts were awesome quality compared to the ones that came with this kit, but the ones with this kit worked great, they just weren't shiny.I really wanted to use high temp retaining compound on the inserts, but I ended up doing the JB Weld like everyone else.I took the intake manifold off (made the job super easy. The hardest part of using the tool was getting the shavings out of the cylinder. I used a lot of tap magic on the reamer and tap. I blew the oil out, then filled the combustion chamber about 5 or 6 times with some good squirts of brake clean (I used 4 or 5 cans in total) blowing the combustion chamber out each time I added brake clean. I have a really good bore scope and I never got every last flack out. Some tiny ones got stuck beside the piston (near where the rings are) and on the head by the valves. They were super tiny and I wasn't worried.Obviously the threads were super clean so the JB Weld could stick. I let that sit 24 hours and the engine was good to go.Definitely get this tool if you have one of these engines.

I watched a video on you tube and ordered the kit on Amazon which is my go to site and this kit worked flawlessly. If you have some mechanical ability and do your homework and get the correct sized kit for your motor you can save yourself a lot of money and do it yourself. The good part about this kit is the air line that helps you make sure that the piston is at the bottom of the stroke and also the guide that makes sure that you are drilling and tapping at the correct angle. Also the kit comes with 8 permanent inserts so if you have the issue again you will be prepared. Note; Make sure and watch the DVD that comes with the kit. As of the date I ordered my kit approx. 07/03/2016 Ford had not issued a recall and doesn't look like they will any time soon but keep your receipt and if they do you can get reimbursed. Some people are trying to start a class action lawsuit and there are sites on the www. In the mean time this is the absolute best way to handle this issue. Thanks Amazon and Thanks ATD. This kit is everything it is advertised to be. My 5.4L Triton is Bad Ass Again...

If you blow out a spark plug, you have a few choices - Sell your vehicle, Pull the head (good luck!), pay a professional (probably cost more than the vehicle is worth), or buy this kit.I blew out the number 6 plug, passenger side, second to firewall. This kit was recommended from a YouTube video, and it worked perfectly. Yes, the job was expensive, I had to buy glue, lubricants, spark plugs, a usb camera, and air tools, and I really doubted my ability to pull the job off, but I had absolutely no problems. Not only that, the car runs excellently. Follow the directions, or go to YouTube and watch the video, and you have to work hard to mess it up.

Excellent high quality kit. This was my first time using the kit and tapping a spark plug hole. Worked excellent, all pieces are very high quality compared to the parts store thread repair kit I bought and ended up taking back. Tapped two spark plug holes, used Loctite 266 and they're holding just fine. Was worth the money to get a long lasting, professional solution to a common Ford 5.4 problem

I did have issues with the kit itself. I found that the air plug tester, would not stay connected into any of my air hoses. I use EATON female connectors, which seem to work fine on all my male air connectors, even the male connectors I get from harbor freight. But the male connector on the air plug tester, didn't seem to be long enough to allow the female connector to lock into place.I also found that the guide didn't fit into my spark plug hole. On my 2007 Crown Victoria cylinder #8 where the issue was, there seemed to be a slight overhang of the intake manifold's plastic body over part of the spark plug hole, which was just enough to block the guide from going into the hole. Therefore I had to end up doing this freehand, which was a bit more nerve-wrecking, but it did end up working out. So, I can say that aside from half of this kit not working for me, the parts that needed to work, did, and my engine is running smooth again.

My husband purchased this to repair our 2003 Ford Expedition. The cost for repair at a local shop was $900. This kit saved us over half of that and my husband repaired the car in an afternoon (really did not take that long). He said it took a bit to find out which kit to get as he needed a larger size, but this turned out to be perfect. He learned about this kit from watching videos on YouTube. Saved us tons of money and should the same problem happen again, we will be ready!!

No dvd and for the price it should of included the high temp epoxy you need. Very over priced
