Bought to watch sailboats out of my window. I can see them up to several miles away from inside my house with this scope. I am blown away by the photo quality. At about half a mile I can make out the words on a “No trespassing sign” on a beach area on 60x zoom although it’s ever so slightly blurred. Strong value for the money. I also haven’t tested it, but Athlon claims they have a lifetime no questions asked warranty policy in the included manual. The tripod works ok for sitting at a desk but it’s too short for anything else. Construction is sturdy and the device feels good. The telescoping eye protector works well as do all of the knobs.Only quibble is that the knob that tightens and u tightens to allow the device to rotate makes contact with the focus knob at about -75 degrees from North, so you cannot fully rotate the device circumferentially when it’s mounted to a tripod. Not a big deal.

This is a great budget spotting scope. I have used it at the range when sighting in at 200+ yards. Also when scouting for upcoming hunts. Can read a STOP sign at 4 miles away. Some blurring at the edges......but why would you be looking at the edges? For the money it works great, and I dont have to be overly worried about cosmetic bumps and bruises. The tripod it comes with is tiny but functional. The carry bag has held up well. I have lost the lens caps, but that's no fault of the scope. But an improvement might be to somehow allow them to remain attached when opened up. Would definitely recommend to anyone getting in to hunting, who have a limited budget, and too much other gear to buy still.

They don't feel overly sturdily built or hefty, and I'm not sure how the lenses' alignment will hold up over time or with a drop. The picture quality was not that much worse than a Zeiss scope I tried out (I'm also an optics newb, so ymmv), though considerably dimmer with a more limited view due to the eyepiece (believe it's upgradable though). You won't get usable 60x from this; chromatic aberration sets in around 30x, is horrid by 60x, and 60x is also quite dim and washed out, just not a great experience. But the 20-30x experience isn't bad, not too dim, and I doubt it's beatable at this price point.Still, I'm finding myself still using my binoculars mostly, which are higher grade. This was baby's first scope, and I'm not sure I like the format, which isn't really a dig on this particular model, but the overall picture quality is definitely a step down from my Monarch M5s, which aren't that pricey to begin with for binos. The included tripod, as you might guess, is trash. Why bother including it? Put the money elsewhere... The case is also poorly padded, which is concerning given the mediocre sturdiness. I'd prefer a better eyepiece and no extras rather than the afterthoughts it came with for accessories.

You already know what to expect at this price range, but I was pleasantly surprised! I haven't had any issues with blue outline refraction or anything else out of the ordinary. No seriously noticeable fishbowl effect when panning side to side. It does work best at less than full 60x zoom. I can see .17HMR hits at 100yds fine on cardboard targets. It's a little less than perfect, but with a good tripod, and a minute to look carefully, I can see .22-250 hits at 200yds.. At 300yds, I'd be able to see hits on steel, but most likely not .22 hits on cardboard. Just messing around, I can count the bolts on the highest tier of a cellular tower from 1/4 mile. but I can't read grave stones from the same distance. It's a fair optic for the money, but it's also got that wide open, no optic coating, clear glass, kinda cheap view. Trying to focus through tree limbs, there's quite a bit of distortion, and the eye relief is pretty short. The rotating mount sleeve is a nice feature, the sunshade is a little short, but it's effective until the sun gets pretty low. It gets dark, and the image quality suffers after 40x, but I've been turning it up to 60x, and backing it down until I get a satisfactory view. In good light, a person new to scopes in this range should be really happy with it, as long as they don't expect to see the color of a bird's eyes at 500yds and full zoom. The focus knob is just right, not stiff, not too loose. It actually does a nice job. For a budget optic, I rate it a 5/5 for doing what a budget scope does, rather well.

If you’re tired of walking to the target to see your shot, buy it. Works great when shooting lower power scopes. Also price is great for what you are getting. Athlon is a trusted brand and the quality is great. Can see targets extremely clear at 100 yards

The scope was okay and was good value for the money, except that it came with marks on the inside of the lens and opening it voided the warranty!First, Amazon would NOT let me return it to exchange for the same item. WTH?Second, Amazon's first choice was to contact the manufacturer -- but the phone number and website given were some furniture store that were being bugged by a bunch of us! Poor Form, Amazon.I finally said I'd return in for a refund . . . then bought another outright. Not many people could afford to do so. Therefore, be aware of the piss-poor return policy because you are taking a chance.

The maker obviously put all the effort in the optics. It isn't tough enough for rough condition hunting, but as a general spotting scope or range tool, it's capability far exceeds its price. I have older scopes that cost me 3-4x as much that don't have the resolution of the Talos.

Although this comes with a mini tripod, I would recommend you use a regular one, as the provided one is only good for table top type use. Zooming the eyepiece requires a little bit of refocusing, but one can use it fairly close up in confined spaces (I used it inside my house with no problem). I like the big objective lens as many spotting scopes have only a 50 or 60 mm objective lens. Good bang for the buck, especially for us Canadians (with our low dollar). Came well packaged, box within a box. Bought it for use at the range to see targets more clearly at distance.
