I have several older phones that do not have caller ID built in. I had gotten a separate caller ID unit from the phone company when I first signed up for caller ID. After 15 or 20 years, it quit working. I wanted to buy another like I had, but I could not find any. This one is the closest to my original one that I could find, and I like it. It shows the caller's name and phone number (unless it has been blocked or the caller's phone company does not provide caller ID), the date and time of the call, and the current date and time.

It runs on 3 AAA batteries that die out every 2-3 weeks which is a nuisance and that is why I didn't give it 5 stars.

This caller ID device is compact, easy to use and displays names and phone numbers. I've had others and this device is perfect for my use here at the house. The "new call" LED blinks to indicate a new call while you were out. Excellent product.

Considering this product's low price, I was pleasantly surprised at how well built it is. Has a solid feel, not chintzy at all. Had a little trouble getting it to work on my phone lines, which I assume is because I have DSL service. I had to swap out the DSL line filters until I found one that would not corrupt the caller id signals. (Kept getting an ERROR when the phone would ring.) I took off one star because the display can be hard to read, and there's no backlight. If you get it at just the right angle, it's fine. Otherwise it has insufficient contrast. All in all though, a great little unit at a great price.

I am old school and my Lucent Technologies, a long defunct A T & T very similar appearing stand alone Caller ID finally wore outafter over 16 years of use, so I replaced it with this Advanced Telephones Caller ID Clam Shell A T & T "model 326" and I am avery happy camper !!!

Very Frustrating, only works intermittently if batteries are halfway out (can't close door) likely a short, but disappointing.

We purchased this because we received an old-style (but new) desk phone. We followed the simple instructions -- basically, insert AAA batteries and plug it in. When we tested it by calling from another phone (my or my husband's cell to the landline to which the new phone is connected ), we kept getting an error message. Sorry this doesn't work.

Easy to install, Easy to read. Easy to look quickly and check when we come home. We love it. Received it quickly and were very pleased with that.
