Many chicks may look alike at hatch until feathers are grown in. Baby Poultry Leg Bands applied at hatch make it easy to identify between breeds and varieties of chicks. Use one band or multiple bands per leg as identifiers. The leg bands are a quality heavy grade plastic Elastic band that hold up well under repeated stress. The handler can easily stretch the band to go over the feet to put on or take off without pulling or twisting the chicks legs, reducing injury. Baby poultry go through the first 3 sizes of any brand leg bands fairly quickly. Once they start to get tight from the chicks growing, about every 2 to 3 weeks, remove the old band and put on the next size up. After they have graduated through all sizes they, are ready for a permanent band. 100, 200, 500 (extra bands are included) Multi Color Leg Bands Per Package. Mix of Red, Green, Orange, and Purple. Available sizes (Measured from the inner Diameter) ; Small 3/16" Size 3 * Medium 1/4" Size 4 * Large 5/16" Size 5 * 3/8" XLarge Size 6 Recommendations on sizing. Size 3. I hatched some BBS Ameraucana hatching eggs a few weeks ago from 3 unrelated breeding groups, so it was vital that I marked which breeding group each chick was from! I didn't order these bands until the chicks were a little over a week old (I used gel food coloring to mark them at hatch, which was a MESS!!!), and I put them on at 2 weeks old exactly. This size band was perfect! They're super stretchy, which made them really easy to put on. I could easily put three of my own fingers inside the band to open it wide, and it easily fit over their feet. The bands were big on the 2 week old LF Ameraucana chicks, but not so big that they fell off, and they're still comfortably wearing the same bands now 8 days later. I anticipate that when it's time to remove them and put on a larger band I won't have any issues due to how stretchy they are! I am really happy with these, and would definitely recommend as a VERY easy way to mark LF chicks from around 2 weeks old!

I have 2 week old chick's and didn't realize I bought XL instead of small. They work great on my larger hens. I love the bright colors.

I love that these are easy to put on and are comfortable for the chicks. I don't love that the chicks can rub or pull them off, which happened with 3 of my 35 chicks over a 6 week period. I do wish they came in more colors.

Easy to stretch open and reusable. I would love a few more colors and would love this to come in adult chicken sizes.

Perfect size for my Peafowl chicks! They are super stretchy and easy to put on, then they shrink back to original size. Perfect solution for larger chicks!

They are just overpriced rubber bands. A better option than bands for hair but there aren't enough colors so I still ended up using rubber bands for hair. Then I discovered loom bands for making kids' bracelets work as well doubled over, and when a chick outgrows it 3 weeks to a month later, you can unloop or use another band without doubling it to get to adulthood on bantams or standard hens. Might need bigger for standard roosters and both sexes of bigger breeds.
