Bought to replace my old brass mailbox. Just as described. Came on time but haven't installed it yet. Needed to purchase longer screws to install since ones included don't work to mount on outside of house if you have brick or stone.

We loved this slot from the start. Installed it on our newly painted door, then cleaned the window panes. Some of the cleaning product got on the new slot cover and seems to have left a sort of permanent stain. I just tried wiping it thoroughly with a cleaning wet wipe and it seems the finish is actually coming off! I’m afraid we are going to have to remove it and spray paint it to have it look anywhere near as good as it did right out of the box!

There was no template, and there's a little "lip" on the frame that makes accurately measuring the area to be cut out of the door difficult. My first cut (literally) was just a bit too small and it was very difficult to enlarge the hole without scarring the door. Installation was a bear! The appearance is adequate and it appears to function ok. I wanted the 11" wide opening and this fit the bill.

I didn't like the fact that the screws that came with it were silver and didn't match the bronze. We installed it because we had nothing else. We tried using a sharpie on the screws to make the screws blend in but it didn't help. The product would have been great if the screws would have matched the faceplate color. You can't tell from the photo but on each corner there is a silver screw. Looks awful.

I love the oil rubbed look of this piece, and it is wide enough that I no longer get rolled or bent mail in my slot. My only gripe is that when installing it, the spring for the opening door is so close to the screws at the upper corners that I had to, several times, carefully grind out a little more here and a little more there to fit the spring without ruining the integrity of the screw holes. In addition, the ends of the torsion spring stuck out near the edge of the frame. So in order to fit those ends into the wall the plate was attached to, I had to grind out a spot that came very close to being visible. Perhaps a different mechanism than a torsion spring would have been more compact or could be further from the mounting screws. Regardless, this is the best option I've found for the look I like.

This is a quality product, but measure your door opening carefully. The flap has a hinge which protrudes into the door unless you have a tall opening. Not wanting to carve out a space for the hinge, I returned the product. Other reviews have noted this hinge problem (but I chose to ignore it when ordering. Ooops!)
