This bare copper wire is suitable for use in crafts or for electrical grounding wire use. This single-strand wire is annealed for improved ductility and meets QQ-W-343 standards for uninsulated copper wire. It also meets ASTM B3 standards for annealed copper wire and complies with Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) regulations. This copper wire is suitable for use in crafts such as jewelry and weaving or for uninsulated wiring applications.

Electrical wire carries an electric current or grounds an electrical device. The amount of current a wire can carry is proportional to its size (gauge), and the wire is generally sheathed with coatings and coverings to insulate and protect it from moisture, chemicals, heat, and abrasion. Copper is the primary material for electrical wire, but alloys are sometimes used to increase its strength or its resistance to chemicals and the environment. Wire can be composed of a single strand or of many smaller strands, depending on its use, and is typically annealed to improve its ductility. Electrical wire is commonly used in industrial, electronic, and automotive applications.

I love these large, economical spools of bare copper wire for making jewelry. It is a good quality wire, which takes a patina well. Best of all, it's a great value. You get a lot of wire for not a lot of money! I just bought this 16 gauge wire which would have cost a fortune somewhere else. I will come back for more gauges of this wire as long as they stay this affordable.

This is the thickest wire I've worked with. I'm using it to make some findings and to bend and pound into jewelry framework pieces. Again, the price makes copper a good metal for learning and for making jewelry to sell or give. I share this secret because others, including generous Amazon reviewers, shared it with me.

I bought this to use to wind air-spaced electrical coils. I need bare copper wire so I could easily solder to various taps on the coil. It worked just fine. The copper is clean, shiny, and doesn't have an insulating coating. It solders well with electrical solder and flux.

First - this looks like good quality copper wire. However, as mentioned in several other reviews the wire I received was labeled 16AWG on a sticker that had been applied on top of another sticker. To be sure of what I had received I used a set of calipers to measure the diameter of the wire. The standard diameter of AWG16 wire is 0.0508 inches. The wire I received measured 0.0403 inches which is the measurement for AWG18 wire. I reported it and another spool of wire has been sent. Let's hope it measures up.UPDATE: 9/11/2019 Received the replacement wire and it is indeed AWG 16. It measures at .050" dia almost 20% larger. It was apparent by weight as well. Would have given 5 stars except for the bogus first roll.

It is just as described-bright & shiney, dead soft wire. It arrived with a plastic wrapping completely covering the wire so it was protected well and had absolutely no damage.

One thing that is unacceptable is to keep getting potluck on gauge size. I ordered 16 gauge wire, and that's what I paid for. I really need to get something made and out the door, and I open my 16 Gauge wire to find it's 18 gauge wire. 200 feet of the wrong gauge. Last month, I ordered 22 gauge wire, and it was 18 gauge. I mean, it's as if all the wire is 18 gauge and they all just stamp different numbers on the labels. It's time to turn to a place that specializes in wire to buy al my wire; I can't have this anymore. Plus, this wire is not even a consistent 18 it is more like 18 in some places and 19 in others. This is just gotten to the point of my knowing that I'm an idiot if I order more. I will need 18 gauge so I will keep this. I really don't want to go through the hassle of returning it; I have already lost way too much time. But, I need tons of my wire to be 16 gauge and there is no substituting . Not only do I lose the money I paid, and 16 costs a bit more to boot, but I am going to have to report that I cannot fill a request, so this is a double problem. I knew the second I opened the thing that there was NO WAY I was seeing 16 gauge wire, so this is not a mistake that I can even understand. It's is so obviously not what it is labeled. All I can say is that if it's not a big deal that you get what you order, go for it. It's a good price if you are willing to play the grab bag game.

Copper wire . . . is copper wire! This 16 gauge spool is just what I needed at 125'. It's hard to find a single spool like this today: mostly only tiny spools hanging high out of reach in a blister pack. Price was right, too!

Wow! This is a smoking deal! Compared to anywhere else I’ve seen, this is the best price for bare copper. Great for jewelry.

I am using this for wire wrapping on jewelry/craft pieces, and wish it was wound on larger spool for less kinks/marks on the wire.
