When I was looking at this item and the similiar ones on Amazon I had two concerns. First, why are some of these more money than others that look the same and second was it sturdy enough to where it didn't have to be bolted down. Eventually, I found that the cheaper ones are smaller. They might, and I stress might, hold a 29 inch or 700c wheel but without a mounted tire. This one is big enough (tall enough) to hold a 29 inch wheel with a 3" tire mounted. In my opinion, that justifies the price difference. Second, I didn't want to have to mount the stand on wood or a table. I wanted to be able to move it for storage. What I found was that the stand is sturdy enough to hold and spin a substantial wheel, even the front wheel from my fat bike (not the rear, max hub width 155mm). It weighs over 7 pounds and the base is big enough to keep it sturdy. Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for an occassional use home truing stand.
