Its a squirrel cage... That being said, I’ve had mixed luck with these. This is the second one that I’ve personally purchased to replace in my Rheem air handler and the fourth one that it’s had installed overall. The original self-destructed a year after the AC was installed and was replaced under warranty. The second one destroyed itself about 7 years later. I replaced it, and installed a new motor with one of these about two years ago. I got slightly less than 19 months out of it, and was not surprised when the fan again exploded as it had never run true or vibration free. This new one seems quite a bit better and more balanced. Hopefully it will last the remaining life of the AC.
