Pressure Fermentations With pressurised fermentation becoming ever more popular it has become increasingly important to have a method of regulating and controlling this residual pressure from the fermentation process. The BlowTie has been designed specifically for this reason.

This sounding valve worked perfect for my needs. The device comes in separate parts with extra pieces in case you need/lose them. Everything fits together very easily, but make sure you’re paying attention when you assemble it. On the bow tie valve, there is an arrow pointing in the direction where the valve will blow off excess carbonation. Make sure that is pointing the right way, or the valve will not function.I tested the valve gauge against the regulator I have on my CO2 tanks, and they were identical. Zero issues with leaking air besides what is intended.

This came with a couple extra pieces of EVAbarrier and an extra tee. After assembling it, nothing leaks and it works flawlessly.

Edit: user error. I have corrected to 4 stars. It works fine, it is just not very robust.

Ive held off on this for years. Ive always bought the metal ones. I know how to use a spunding valve. This thing comes in a box with pieces and no instructions. Put together and leaked like a sieve and yet no pressure reading. Your better off putting a balloon on the gas port.

I bought this for closed transfer. It arrived promptly with all the parts and a spare tee. No instructions, but it’s easy enough to figure out by looking at the product photos. Make sure to get the valve installed with the correct flow direction as indicated by the arrow. Some reviews have expressed concerns about pressure stability for pressurized fermentation, but I have a separate sounding valve for that purpose.

I'm giving this a three only because it did not come with the extra t joint. Would have been nice to have it at least I have all the other parts to make it work. However I did immediately press all the fitting together more because it was preassembled. I close the valve and stuck it on a keg pressurized and full of starsan. It leaked. Very slowly. The blow off valve was connected in the wrong direction. One lesson always, never trust its put together correctly, or in this case comes with everything it says it does. Will see how it works for my first pressurized beer in a couple weeks.Update 7/15/22 Reducing review to 2 stars. Had this hooked up overnight on a pressurized tank at 10 psi. This morning pressure was reduced to 5 psi. Returning this and getting a different style.

This is a good concept except for the fact that the gauge may not be accurate. The regulator that is in the assembly is a wind in/out type, basically the regulator with let off pressure until it reaches the set point. Getting an accurate set point for blow-off seems to be the challenge. A digital gauge would be a better fit for this application.
