About this item

  • UNIQUE DESIGN: LC-2 isn’t a standard stock cable; we designed it specifically to optimize performance in unbalanced (“RCA”) analog audio, with coaxial geometry but with lower capacitance and better shielding than any ordinary coax.
  • HEAVY SHIELDING: LC-2 is shielded with two high-coverage bare copper braids, one laid directly over the other, for the best possible performance at audio frequencies.
  • HUM PREVENTION: LC-2 combats two of the principal causes of subwoofer hum: the shielding helps to exclude induced noise, while the low shield resistance lowers ground potential differences, reducing the likelihood of ground loop hum.
  • LOW CAPACITANCE: LC-2’s large spacing between shield and center conductor, and the use of a highly foamed dielectric, keep its capacitance around a low 12 pF/foot.
  • HIGH FLEX: LC-2 is a thick cable – but is surprisingly flexible, with a soft PVC jacket and foam dielectric.
  • QUALITY PLUGS: Our Taversoe RCA plugs, gold-plated on all contact surfaces, grip the RCA jack with a circular leaf spring – providing firm engagement without jack-damaging excessive tightness.
  • FROM SEATTLE, WASHINGTON: All LC-2 cable assemblies are built by American workers in our cable shop in Seattle, Washington.

Product Description

Blue Jeans Cable LC-2 Subwoofer Cable

BJC's Proprietary Design

Our subwoofer cables are manufactured in our own shop in Seattle, Washington, using our own proprietary cable stock, the BJC LC-2 . The LC-2 design has the geometry of a coax, but with extreme low capacitance and heavy, high-conductivity shielding: two bare copper, 95% coverage braids layered one over the other. This both presents the best shielding available at analog audio frequencies and gives a low-resistance path between devices to prevent ground loop hum. The two cables in the pair are separate -- not joined together -- for maximum flexibility.

An update to a classic

Our LC-2 cable is a slightly updated version of our classic LC-1: a bit rounder in profile, and slightly lower in capacitance. It's the same design concept, just with a couple of updates in implementation.

LC-2 Design Characteristics:

  • Solid 25 AWG copper center conductor
  • Thick foamed PE dielectric for low capacitance
  • Double-braid shielding: two 95% bare copper braids for the best low-frequency noise rejection
  • Taversoe 7 RCA plugs designed specifically to fit this cable
  • High-flex PVC outer jacket

LC-2 Design Notes: What Makes a Good Audio Cable?

When we entered the wire and cable business, we were not satisfied with the cable designs in use for analog unbalanced ("RCA") audio. Indeed, it seemed to us that, design-wise, this was a neglected product: solutions were either inappropriate (e.g., using balanced-type cables in unbalanced configurations), or relatively ineffective (e.g., traditional poorly-shielded small conductors), or, at best, were simply not quite optimized for analog audio (e.g., 75 ohm coaxial-type designs, which had the right geometry but were designed for RF).

Two considerations dominate unbalanced audio quality, and these were the focus of our design: first, low capacitance to prevent high-frequency rolloff; and second, high shield effectiveness at analog audio frequencies. For the first, a small center conductor in a very foamy dielectric was the solution; for the second, our tests showed that nothing beat two heavy, high-coverage copper braids, one on top of the other.

Taversoe 7 3-piece connector, before crimping

The Connector

No stock connector fits this cable, so we designed our own. The Taversoe 7 RCA connector is a perfect fit to LC-2. It's a three-piece crimp design for high mechanical and electrical stability, and it incorporates a leaf-spring outer contact which provides excellent grip, but no over-grip, of the RCA jack.

Schleuniger Strip Machine and Crimp Press for LC-1

Precision Manufacturing

No offshore assembly here: every LC-2 cable assembly is produced by skilled American workers in our own shop in Seattle, using the finest Swiss-made Schleuniger cable stripping machines and 3-ton pneumatic presses: the same quality machines and processes used for broadcast-industry cabling. Skilled workers, the best materials and the best processes add up to a fine, precision-made product with high quality and consistency.

The Final Product: Quality and No Nonsense.

The result is an RCA analog interconnect of unique design and engineering, optimized for line-level analog audio. We make no extraordinary claims for it; what we say is that it is designed to do a simple job well, and we think it succeeds. Try it, and we think you will agree.

I had read several excellent reviews of Blue Jeans Cable products on various websites and in stereo/home theater magazines and decided to buy this subwoofer cable from Amazon a few weeks ago. This cable replaced the Mediabridge cable that I purchased along with one of my subwoofers more than a year ago. The Mediabridge cable is an excellent cable by any standard, but when I changed to the Blue Jeans Cable the low, bass notes became audibly clearer and better supported. I was also impressed with the apparent build quality of the cable so I went to the BJC website and ordered some of their 10awg speaker cables with banana terminals. I received them a couple of weeks ago and connected all of my speakers with these wires. They replaced the Monster cable that I had been using. I have known for many years that Monster makes very cheap stuff and depends on constant advertising to sell their cables, but when I bought those I was on a tight budget and I got them really cheap. There again was a very noticeable difference in sound quality when I switched my speakers to the BJC cables. I highly recommend all products from Blue Jeans Cable including this subwoofer cable available on Amazon. You can order directly from the BJC website, but I would look for what you want on Amazon first, especially if you are a Prime member, because of the great Amazon customer service and 2-day shipping for Prime members. Overall, once I switched to BJC cables I noticed a more spatial, cleaner, basically better sound. This is made possible by the more efficient delivery of clean power and unobstructed information transfer. I plan to replace all of my HDMI and coaxial cables with BJC products in the next week or two.

Anybody who tells you that a cable is cable is full of snake oil (lol). I noticed some loud humming after connecting my turntable to my receiver. Culprit was a Belkin subwoofer cable. I swapped it out with another subwoofer cable that I had laying around ( a Monster brand cable) and the noise quieted down a lot. After installing the Blue Jeans cable there is no noise. It's quiet enough to hear a mouse "p" on cotton. Not only that, the boomy, hollow, echo-ey bass that I had with music and movies was cleaned up. The bass is tighter, more refined. This cable was worth the 30 bucks. I would never pay an exuberant amount of money for cables, but I can tell the difference between the 3 cables I used with my subwoofer. I changed no settings on the receiver or the sub, simply swapped the cable and the difference was very noticeable. I re-ran the Audyssey mic cablibrations and the difference is still there. This cable was worth the money I spent. This cable is much larger in diameter too, seems to be well made. My only complaint is with the rca connector type - you need a couple of inches of clearance from each connection end. If space is limited, you may want to try an SVS cable. I read the comments of others before buying the cable and figured I'd take a chance on something with decent quality after noticing the difference with the cables I already owned. If you have time to sample cables, then go ahead and buy the amazon brand, the mediabridge brand, and this brand. I'd be curious to see if anyone can hear a difference. What sounds good to you is all that matters in the end - and this cable sounds good to me without breaking the bank.

Have owned many Interconnects and speaker wires over the years and have to say I am VERY impressed with this Subwoofer connector. Wasn't sure what the performance and quality would be given the price point, but have no doubt this is an awesome product. Previously used connectors from the "scary" big-name company that also has the same name as an energy drink and the BlueJean cables blow them away!Sound of my high-end duel subwoofer combo is punchy and tight with the BlueJeans. The connectors to my AVR and subwoofers fit perfect and really appreciate how they are double shielded to prevent signal loss and interference. These cables are easily built to last 10 years+ and am now considering other BlueJean products. I don't believe speaker wires and various connectors are "snake oil" because hearing is believing and now I know you don't have to break the bank to get quality connectors that perform!

Well made, flexible, with quality connectors.Sound quality? Hard to judge on a subwoofer cable, but with my Martin-Logan Abyss & Magnepan MG-12's, I noted slightly more punch & detail over my older Monster Cable interconnects. But, truthfully, I'm not willing to do an exhaustive a/b comparison on a pair $27 cables to confirm my impressions. What I needed was two, matched subwoofer cables, and these did the job at a very reasonable price.

As a guy that owns some pretty decent gear I highly recommend BJC. Quit spending money on gimmicky cords, or just pure snake oil at that. It's well made and affordable. Save that money for something better for crying out loud. You don't have to thank me . Thank a company that isn't full of poo poo. I own B&W ,Arcam , Sony CDP X77 ES, SANSUI TU-9900, VINCENT SV 236 MK,VPI HW 19MK and blah , blah the list goes on . Bought a JL Audio E-110 recently, and yep this is exactly what you need. Nothing more, nothing less. Be sure you have clearance as some of these interconnect need a few inches of distance from the wall. All my gear is wired 90 percent with BJC and I Trust me if they'd have hdmi cable that said pass 4k or 8k content I'd already of bought them.

Cable is sturdy yet flexible while the connector end has a nice grip to your component in/out terminal. Use Blue Jeans cables for my RCA L/R interconnects as well and this cable is made to the same high standards. Highly recommend!

Cable runs 35’ along floor joists in the ceiling and down the wall in my basement passing all kinds of electrical wiring along the way. Sub woofer is dead quiet until the huge explosion in whatever movie I’m watching. AWESOME!

I was a little dubious if this cable would make a difference, but I now have zero buzzing on the subwoofer. Better than expected and totally recommend this cable.
