About this item

Bluewater sewn prusiks feature a sewn termination for the ultimate in strength and safety. Computer controlled sewing machines precisely stitch each prusik with 277 polyester thread for a strong and reliable stitch. BlueWater sewn prusiks are much lighter and less bulky than tied prusiks. These have a low profile with no knots to become loose or get in your way. Manufactured in the U.S.A. from Domestic and Globally sourced raw materials.

You all know what a prusik is for. So why a sewn loop? It has two advantages over a knot:a) Stronger. Your knot may be neatly tied and dressed but it will still fail before the sewing.b) Less weight. The difference may not be much, but it adds up. Cut ounces where you can.Best uses:-Belay backup-Rappel backup-Escaping the belayFor ascending, I prefer to tie my own prusik as I'd like to carefully adjust the lengths without having to put in a knot in the middle which will be difficult to undo later. Sewn loops are probably fine for rescue functions such as rigging a pulley system, but might be slightly less versatile than a tied prusik which can be untied and re-purposed.These are soft cord and handle nicely. The ideal purposes listed above are best served by the 20 inch version.

These are incredibly well made prusiks with a bite from hell when double or triple wrapped around 1"inch steel tower legs. And by that I mean a 2 or 3 wrap prusik this thing would hold the twin towers to the ground if one started to lean. Ope I'm showing my age. Lol. Anyway it's a good product, super strong and durable. Beware, keep away sharp knifes or objects if using these to position like I was for climbing cell phone towers.Bluewater ropes makes good ones as well. Even better in fact.

I have this prusik in more than one length for the variety of uses from belay backup to ascension. The reason I dropped the money for these sewn prusik's is because they are SEWN and not tied with a knot. I know there is no such thing as absolute bombproof on knots or sewn, but these are stronger than the knot and, more importantly...you don't have the added bulk of the knot either. I will always have accessory cord that can be used in an emergency, but these are my primary go-to prusiks from now on!

I use the short one as an auto lock when rappelling, the longer one to clip in on a ledge. Very useful to have. A little less bulky than a prussik with a knot tied into it (in which case you want a couple extra inches for the knot). The ends overlap though, so the sewn part is 2x6.5 in the area of overlap, i.e. it still has some bulk which you need to keep outside of the auto lock knot etc.

Very strong and simple to use. A little longer than if anticipated. But overall a great producer.
