I used these to rectify the voltage on a coffee roaster that was roasting to fast. Of course it reduced the voltage by 1/2, which was needed. Worked great and the price was right!

These arrived quickly. I tested one in the application of directly rectifying a 120v AC line voltage to a heater (cuts the power to the heater by about half.) My clamp meter indicates current through the diode was right at 6 amps. (I'm not sure how accurately my clamp meter reads a half-wave current!)Un-heat-sinked in an ambient ~22 deg. C, the diode survived that 20 minute test, but it was pretty hot -- I estimate around 95 deg. C. I would definitely recommend heat sinking, generous if in a warm or closed environment, and certainly at anything over a few amps.
