I'm using these in an RGB LED strip setup with an ESP8266 at 3.3v. They pass a little bit of current at 3.3v but nothing useful for my application. They pass full current when I manually apply 5v at the gate.

at 3.3V Vgs these *do* pass current, just not enough to run a short LED strip at a useful brightness. The datasheet indicates that at 3.3V Vgs they should be capable of passing ~10A

According to datasheet, these should operate perfectly normal at 3.3 volts and allow 10A+ A to pass through, but you'll need at least 5v to operate these correctly. Save your money and buy the real deal somewhere else. At 3.3 volts they will start to operate but you'll only get a few mA and they will heat up very quickly.
