Choosing the best roller skate wheel

Choosing the best roller skate wheels boils down to high-quality features. You want your wheels to be durable while also having excellent grip and roll. Many wheels on the market are made with low-quality urethane and they may grip well but lack roll or they may have good rebound but wear out quickly. If you’re looking for the best skate wheels, you need a trustworthy brand like Bont who only manufacture wheels using the best urethane.

The Bont BPM replacement roller skate wheel is an excellent upgrade for your outdoor roller skates and is suitable for all levels of skater. The BPM roller skate wheel glides smoothly across many outdoor surfaces including asphalt and concrete. The wheel's hardness is rated at 78a which is a good hardness for all types of skating surfaces including rough and smooth surfaces. A harder wheel such as 83a will roll better on very smooth surfaces but not as well on rough surfaces.

These replacement roller skate wheels will fit all brands of roller skates including Bont, Moxi, Riedell, Impala, Jackson, Sure-Grip, and Chaya.

HISTORY

Bont was founded in Sydney in 1975 when Inze Bont, a recreational speed skater decided to fiberglass the back of his leather speed skates to gain more support. Bont was the first footwear manufacturer to use exotic material like fiberglass in 1974, Kevlar in 1986 and Carbon Fiber in 1989, and the first to use heat moldable resins and thermoplastics. In the 1980's Bont dominated the quad racing scene with the lightest and strongest boots on the market thanks to our unique one-piece manufacturing technique. Bont was the first quad skate company to use lace covers, velcro, and aluminum strengtheners in the boots.

Nice color and smooth ride. Paired with roller bones bearings will make for a solid skate for sure. Main downside being the price for two packs plus needing to buy a pack of 16 bearings. It’s par for the course and pair well with Bont parkstars or prostars. Will still buy again for outdoor wheels. If you’re looking for daily drivers, a good choice.

Haven't skated outdoors in forever, so I can't compare these to any other wheels. But, for the outdoor (roller)hockey rink where I've been using them, they're a nice ride. I wonder, though, if they're too soft and that maybe I should have bought a harder compound for this smooth surface, which might make the roll faster. But, I won't know that until I have to order a new set.... Getting the bearings in was a chore for some of them—be sure the bearing is seated all the way in, or your nut won't tighten appropriately, even if it looks like it's on. Perhaps not a fault of the wheel, it's just that there is some variation and some of the hubs are a bit harder to get into. It's probably that way with all wheels, though.

These wheels are great! I was struggling skating in the street and now I have to make sure I don’t go too fast. ;)Be sure to get two sets since the wheels are only sold for one skate, little detail I didn’t see at first.

I got these to replace the harder wheels on my Riedell Wave skates and they're perfect. Since using these wheels I've noticed a lot of improvement in my balance (as a newbie) since I'm not getting caught on every crack, pebble, and branch. They were easy to install and have a good weight to them. I love them and would definitely recommend!

I bought two packs of four, for my rollerskates (moxi beach bunnies). They key thing that is great about this product, is the width that these have. They are 35mm width, which gives a lot of great stability compared to the Radar Energy 62 (which are 32mm).I went from Radar Energy 57mm wheels to Energy 62mm because my kingpins and the nuts were scraping the cement outside cuz the wheels made them too low whenever I skated somewhere bumpy or hit a rock. My issue with Energy 62’s were that they felt too tall and I was not stable enough, still being shaky. But with Bont BPM, which have the same height, the width made me a whole lot more in check with my balance, while I was still able to keep a fair amount of manoeuvrability outside. The price is also better compared to my local skate shop. These outdoor wheels are great for beginners, they roll so smooth and made downhill carving a lot more steady for me, even as a beginner to downhill skating!

I bought on sale about a year and a half ago so time for my review. I was replacing my last set of Gryo 73A park skate wheels ... I loved them so bought 7 sets in 1979. I roll park vertical, streets, hills as well round-n-round at the rink. Bonts are a good brand and these were a pretty good replacement for the price and what I do. *** NOTE: 78A wheels are soft so also much harder to push. This is really noticeable at an indoor rink but I like being able to carve a floor and I get a better workout.

These are so much better than the wheels my skates came with. They are softer, I can turn, they are more forgiving, great for asphalt. Immediately I loved them and actually had fun skating on my street. I also added narrower nuts with this set and adjusted them so my wheels spin freely. Great customer service when my first set were lost by purolator.
