BOSCH Nail Strike Wood-Boring Bits are the first wood-boring bits to power through nail-embedded wood. The bit features Reamer edges Made of tough, reinforced steel that cut through up to 30 nails. Each bit has a fully threaded cone tip that pulls it through the wood, offering best-in-class speed through 2x4s. These bits are ideal for boring clean holes through wood fast to run conduit or pipe. The contoured paddle design also enhances chip removal, contributing to the fast performance. The hex shank with power Groove reduces bit slippage in the drill and makes it suitable for use with a variety of drill types, including impact drills. These bits should not be used in a drill press and are not intended for counter boring or doweling.

Love them I only wish they made them in all sizes, Sure would like a whole set of these. Hit a nail with one of the bits and it didn’t hesitate one bit it chewed it up and spit it out. Highly recommend for electricians or anyone in the trades for that matter.

I have only used this to finish one deep hole which i started with a typical spade bit. Ran into a few nails so the regular pits just dull and become useless when confronted with framing nails. Bought this set and it did this job without killing the bit.Started it on drill position 1 low speed. It kept jamming on the nails. I increased drill speed to medium, #2 position and it chewed the nails up then drilled another 6 inches, with an extension, no problem. So I am glad I bought the kit. I think I am going to keep using regular spades till I hit a nail then swap in one of these for the rescue. If I was doing this commercially it sure would make sense to use these or other good nail chewing bits for everything.Jay

I bought the Bosch set and a similar Diablo set. Both did indeed drill through old, hard joists with embedded nails and even some pieces of metal Romex. The Bosch bits seemed to be less aggressive and wore down faster. Both bit sets will bind up if pushed and can mess up your hand/wrist if not careful. They also get hot pretty fast. Learn how to use them. I definitely recommend these for old, hard wood and any chance of hitting a nail. One bit is a lot cheaper and less frustrating than quickly wearing out a few normal bits (lesson learned).

These are what paddle bits should be able to accomplish. Quick cits through wood and nails and they just keep cutting. The only negative is they are hard to pull back out once you drill the hole because they cut through the wood so fast that the shavings block the bits removel. That aside, these bits are so much better and last.

I install a lot of data and other low voltage wiring like cat6 for security systems and similar equipment, and I'm always having to drill through headers and 2x4 plates filled with nails up in corners and other awful locations. I've had good luck using the Irwin SpeedBore bits for a long time but I carried a extra because I know I'll chowder a few up on almost every job. Only need the one set of Nail Strikes now, so far the 3/4 bit alone has outlasted 2 of the speedbores and 1 dewalt paddle bit, same job site, same conditions. I'm convinced.

I've used this the sometime now and I'm still surprised sometimes of the amount of abuse these bits can handle

These are great for remodel electric work. If you hit a nail in a stud it's no problem at all. Good product.

The bits are excellent, but don't expect to get a 3/8 bit.

I have a nice set of the hole drills from bosch that have been quite reliable. I hit several screw with my ½” but it still kept going. It’s getting kinda rough now so I decided to buy a better set to help in hitting those unavoidable nails when running wire. This set came and I went to work. I pulled out the ⅝” and it was not as fast as the blue bits but still good pulling through even 3 beams. They don’t auger out the wood as well either so I’d have to run it through Triples a couple times of the wire would not run through. Then came the screw. I clearly hit it and it lefts it mark in the bit but it still worked well. Only upon exit did it not clear to easily. Then later in the day I hit a second one and this one bent the bit entirely! It actually bent the shaft. I tried it and it bored a little worse but the shake was unusable. I would conclude that maybe if it didn’t bend it may be as good if not a little better than the blue bits but for the price and name you’d expect it to be much better. I will go back to using the blue bits from bosch and replace then as needed since they are so cheap. Returning this set.

Excellent set compared to cheaper devil bits, seems to burn out after 30+ uses through 2x4.
