I personally dislike the vinyl coated straight wires rv manufacturers use for the breakaway cables. They don’t look good, they hang down, and to be safe, you need to ensure sufficient slack so it doesn’t pull the pin when you’re turning your rig. So I change the OEM cable out with a coiled one like this early on. This one is sufficiently long enough for my application, and it appears to be made of a good quality cable covered by a high visibility red vinyl cover. This 6’ cable is just right for my new 5th wheel.

I ordered this break away cable to use on the back of a semi trailer. One end is connected to a pigtail and the other end with the d ring is hooked to a padlock on the trailer door. The cable has been exposed to a variety of weather and held up great. I'm sure if you use it as a break away cable(it's intended use) it would perform with no problems. I have no complaints at all with the quality it made it. It should serve me for a long time.
