Yes, there are lots of options and competing products available. But this is the set you had growing up. It’s the one that you want to buy for the kid in your life. They have left it alone and kept it original - if you’re like me it will bring you back. It’s been 30 some odd years, and I’m so pleased that this is available for my kids and making those memories with them.

My son loves everything trains so I got him this. He loves it and has no issues in playing with it. I think it's a nice set however I feel that the tracks are not as smooth to the touch as some other sets we have that's why I took off a star because they could've sanded it down even finer or added a glaze/Poly to it to make it smooth. It felt a bit unfinished.

I had never heard of Brio trains until recently, but apparently I have been living under a rock. One of my friends said they are the nicest train sets that you can buy. So when I saw this new 65th anniversary train set from Bio, I ordered it immediately for my son. He has been asking me for a train set, so I am sure he will love this one. This set comes with 32 total pieces. The train is not battery powered, but you can upgrade to a battery powered train later if you wish. You can also buy an expansion pack to make the track even larger. The quality of the pieces in this set are so nice that I am sure my son can keep it and hand it down to his children someday.

This set is much more than a figure eight starter set. It has enough track to accommodate several layouts. Included are an intersection, Y-tracks, and a bridge. It also has some short straights and smaller radius curves that help connect non-standard layouts.The train cars are good quality with strong magnates. The cars actually fit under the bridge, unlike some of the knock-offs.I’m adding this to an extensive set of Brio and non-Brio track. I really like the odd size straights and curves that solve the problem of layouts that don’t quite line up.This would make a great starter set.There are cheaper sets out there. Most have design flaws.This is Brio quality at a Brio price.
