The quality in these Brio trains far exceeds any of the cheaper ones we have purchased for our son who loves trains. He tends to gravitate towards the Brio brand for some reason, maybe he sees the quality. I always wait for a sale to purchase them bc they are pricey at full retail.

My grandson was soo excited to receive this fun addition to his train set! Wonderfully detailed and runs smoothly on the wooden track and all at an excellent price point. We love Brio!

This has provided long periods of play for my 24 month old boy. He has just discovered magnetic train sets and this crane set is his favorite. He is able to assemble the boulder cart easily and manages the turning of the crane "crank" with ease. He is a bit advanced with his motor skills, but I think most 2-year-olds would be able to do this without problems. I did have to model how to play with it, but I only did so once before he took it on as his own with his own imagination. This is definitely a favorite in our house.Another reviewer said it tips, which we've never had a problem with, so I decided to test it out. It seems that if you use this set alone, the boulder does in fact make the crane tip (hence the 4 stars), but we've never really experienced this. I discovered that it is because he has always used it while it is connected to all of his other magnetic trains (like Thomas, etc.). I've never noticed this because he hooks up all the trains before manipulating the crane, but this is a draw back if you only have this set.I had him use the crane alone and it did tip on him, but he quickly learned to hold it with the other hand as he turned it to prevent the tipping...so I guess you could say that this helps with problem solving skills ;)

Bought two of these for my 3 year old grandsons. They love them and so does grandma! My grandsons play with the Brio set that my sons played with 30+ years ago. Brio quality can't be beat.

Beautiful addition to brio train collection, my 2.5 year old loved it. If you love brio, you will love the quality and details on this toy as well. The only complaint that the crain stopped working by wheel, so basically, when you scroll the wheel, the crane doesn't move up and down, but my son doesn't mind still loves this toy. And it was abused, probably, not the way it was suppose to be used :) So all good.
