This was a direct replacement for my old fan unit which had "696N B Unit" stamped on it. Install took two minutes. It is relatively quiet compared to the old fan. Not the most quiet, but it's cheap, and it works.

When our 36 year old bathroom fan started showing signs of impending failure, I went looking for a replacement. I was pleasantly surprised to find this unit that would [almost] perfectly replace the old one. I say almost, because I Did have to change out the sheet metal plate with the old one to get the correct electrical fit. Very simple mod though. The fan does seem to have a somewhat better draw, but it came at the price of a somewhat bigger noise - it certainly Sounds more powerful than the old one. Two months in now, it's running great.

I'm so happy I found an exact replacement for my bathroom fan. The old one must be like 15 years old and I figured I'd have to find some new one that doesn't fit exactly right, but fortunately, I found this one! Installation took 5 minutes and I didn't need the instructions and it works great, although the fan is reverse from the old one. None the less, I'm very happy with it!

This is a perfect replacement for an incredibly old Nutone bathroom vent from 1975! I had already purchased one last year and used it in a different bathroom and the part numbers completely matched: 696N. However, today's project was to replace a similar vent fan unit but the model number wasn't quite the same as before--it was only labeled as "696". However, the same unit was an absolute perfect fit once again. If you have an old dinosaur Nutone vent that is stamped "696", and not "696N"---this is the correct replacement unit if your opening is 8"x7.25". Easy to switch out for this mom of 3! Although the original cover would work with this new unit, I decided to purchased a new one to freshen the look until I get around to a complete room remodel later this year. Highly recommend for the money! It's not a super quiet unit, but it pulls air out very effectively.

Super easy to install and fit perfectly. In one bathroom ( medium size ) it's a bit loud but not too bad. In out small one it's incredible loud, considering replacing the entire unit.

In my case the fan fit into the opening perfectly and worked great afterwards. I have attached 2 pictures with the measurements to give you an idea of the size so that you can make sure it’s the right fit. Otherwise the installation only took 5 minutes and was instantly ready to go.
