I have a broom that I purchased in 1990 for sweeping on very smooth finished floors. It was GREAT, and it lasted for all these years, but the fibers became so bent and worn that it was time to get a new broom head. I purchased a broom head with very soft fibers that I really liked, except that the pre-drilled holes in the wooden base where you screw in the broom handle were drilled at an angle that was WAY too upright (angled too high) for sweeping. For me, this bracket has the correct angle for sweeping, but I had to do some pretty precise measuring (and some pretty precise drilling) into the wooden broom head to make this work. I also had to use my own 3/4" screws. But with the addition of the support bracket that I had from the older broom head, I now have a GREAT broom. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5-star is because I feel that it is too narrow, meaning that all the leverage when wou are sweeping is on the two screws. PS - If you decide to use this bracket, make sure you center it on the broom head, not just side to side but also front to back so that you can rotate the broom head occasionally to extend its life.
