Though it is as described the pictures make it appear much larger than it is. It’s nearly useless but may still function for your small board meetings of sorts. Good materials and a pleasant color. Too small for use in my HOA meetings as they get rowdy.

This gavel is solid wood (not sure which type) and stained a reddish color, it's really beautiful. The pieces are solidly together, I tried to pull them apart and could not on mine. There were not any spots missing stain, nor any spots that were jagged on the wood. It was smooth throughout with no burrs.Of course, it makes a rather satisfying "bang!" when you use it. I would have perhaps liked it to be *slightly* larger, but I do have small hands so this works for me anyway. It's what I was looking for. Highly recommend.
