For Christmas, I was giving my kids some cash as a gift, but I wanted them to have to work for it a little rather than just put it in a card. I don't have much experience with puzzle boxes but I figured most would be easier than expected to open and I wanted something pretty challenging. This box was exactly what I wanted. When I first examined it, I was really impressed with the quality of the workmanship. The wood used is a nice hardwood and the joints/seams are very tight, making it very hard to see where it might open from. You can see some of the seams, but I didn't know the order/sequence to follow, so I was stumped. I was running out of time so I had to cheat and watch the video!

Two of the three boxes we ordered worked perfectly. The middle, side connection piece of the third box fell off immediately as the wood was too tight and there was no wiggle room to open the box. It's easily glued back on after we shave down the wood a bit. Overall, this is a fun puzzle box, not easily figured out by the adults who spent quite a bit of time trying to open it. Everyone really liked the boxes and especially the gift money inside. The wood on each box varies by tone, all very unique.

I bought this for my 16 year old grandson as a different way to give him cash (which he requested) for Christmas. Although I finally figured out how it was supposed to open, my arthritic fingers had a hard time opening it…I’m creative though, I found “tools†to help lol. Small children would probably have trouble with it, it takes some finger strength. I got it open, put the money in and I hope he has the patience to figure it out. He’s a pretty smart cookie so I think it will be pretty short work for him. 😠Enjoy.

First, the product is advertised as featuring a hidden compartment in which one might place a "gift card"--this is simply false--the larger of the two compartment is too small for any gift card that I have ever seen. It will however, hold cash. The bigger problem is that, first, when the box is new, it is very hard to open -- the drawer sticks so that even you know how to open it, considerable strength is required to pull it loose (doubtful that any child could do this) -- we wanted to give the boxes to six children, so we opened and closed each one five times to loosen them a bit -- that worked on three of them, but on the other three, the third or fourth time they were opened, the "door" to the compartment broke off when the drawer was pulled open, rendering the box useless.

I ordered 2 of these to use with gift cards for birthday gifts. One was perfect and my friend will have fun figuring out how to get to “the prizeâ€. The second one is basically useless…the secret drawer won’t stay closed, so there’s no puzzle to figure out. I planned to order a couple more but I won’t be doing that now…I don’t want to take the chance to get another dud!!

My grandchildren are all teens & usually want mostly cash for Christmas. It's not much fun putting cash or a gift card in an envelope so each year I try to find different ways to present the gift. These boxes seem sturdy & have more than 1 aspect so they all should have fun on Christmas morning.

I have been solving puzzle boxes for nearly 60 years. This is not a puzzle box. It has no sliding pieces. You just pull out one side. Then you can push out the other side. It is a tiny wooden box made with tight tolerances, and nothing more. Avoid this if you are looking for a puzzle box.

This priduct was purchased as a gift. The quality was very good. The quality of cibstruction was very good abd you could not see where the hidden compartments were located. When following the intructions ti was very easy to understand how to open. Overall it was an excellent purchase.
