Read the reviews and thought I'd give it a try .Easy to install , looks great seems to work well so far no issues - works as it should .Update - NOT sure what exactly happened, but I went to open my tailgate and something broke loose in the handle and now it won't open , my bed cover is on but with the handle not working hadn't been able to open it ( yet ) to see exactly what happened.But I'll update as soon as I see what happened to see if the problem was my insulation or with the handle itself.One suggestion would be if they sent the extra clip and nuts with the handle .

Installed without issue. It is being used in conjunction with a solid tonneau bed cover. It is plastic and I would have liked to see aluminum, but it is sufficient for the task of keeping a normal person out of the bed of the truck.

The OEM tailgate handle broke on my 2005 Dodge Ramt, and after reading the reviews I bought this Bully tailgate lock to replace it. The negative reviews are almost all from people who bought this for a year it wasn't designed for. My experience - a perfect fit! The construction quality is as good as the original, and the added lock feature is nice (but for me not necessary). The lock itself - the keys are great, not small padlock style, these look like car keys. The lock mechanism is smooth. The real win on this product is the installation instructions and construction quality.Installation was a breeze. Even with the plastic bedliner (and tailgate liner), it took me less than 15 minutes from opening the garage to get the tools to everything put away. The instructions are extremely clear - even detailing what size Torx driver and socket are needed for the nuts and screws. Dropped right in, perfect fit, can't tell it from the stock. About the only thing I would say is "wrong" with it is the OEM was a stippled matte finish, this is a smooth polished finish. Not an issue, just not the same.Definitely appreciate the purchase, and love the free shipping with Amazon Prime. Came quickly and well-packaged.

I purchased a tonneau cover for my Dodge RAM 2500 and soon realized that I would need some way to secure the tailgate if I was to have even a meager level of security for items that I would place in the bed of the truck. My experience with dealership purchases made me immediately consider an aftermarket vendor for the tailgate lock. I did the standard internet search and found the Bully product to be certainly economical. As usual the ratings covered the full range of "total junk" to "best ever". Not fully believing either extreme, I went ahead and ordered the model made for the Dodge RAM series.Contrary to some of the negative reviews, it was very easy to install and the fit was perfect! Anyone that had trouble probably skipped the directions;-). I do agree with those that think that the mechanism feels a bit "cheesy". The OEM latch mechanism is MUCH more solid. I will not be totally surprised if the handle breaks as I pull up and out to open the tailgate!!! When the tonneau is rolled up against the back of the cab it isn't an issue as I can use my other hand to tug the gate open. When the tonneau is covering the bed, the latch handle is the only thing available to pull on.The tailgate on my vehicle is a bit snug and does need to be tugged slightly to open it. To help reduce the amount of pull on the handle necessary to open the tailgate I fastened a small loop of "strapage" to the inside of the tailgate. With the tonneau cover and the tailgate both closed about 4 inches of the loop hangs out between the top of the tailgate and the underside of the tonneau cover. I pull up on the latch handle and out on the loop of strap. Hopefully, this will prolong the life of the Bully product. Time will tell.As stated before, it was easy to install and the fit and look are near perfect. If it felt less "cheesy" I might have rated it as a 5 star product.(Maybe a 4.5). I may be a bit generous with the 4 star rating but in the absence of broken components with use, a 3 star rating is too low. At this point, it's doing its job and is looking good while doing it so I'm satisfied! JLJ

10 minutes to install , wish i would of ordered years ago i have a trifold tonneau cover heavy duty with this latch i feel better knowing my tools are secured , mind you if someone is determined they can open it , but it's nice to make it a bit harder for thieves

I lost the keys to the other tailgate lock I put on when I purchased the truck. I purchased this one to replace and I am glad I did. It fit better, works better, better built and looks great. I think no one would think this was a aftermarket product because it fits so well. The keys are also bigger and fits my key chain instead of loose in the glove compartment. I am happy with this purchase and would highly recommend to anyone to buy to lock the bed.

Needed for my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. Purchased a tonneau cover and I didn't realize the tailgate had no lock. It went on pretty simply, just remove a few screws, pop out the old mechanism and pop in the new one.

Loved this replacement locking tailgate handle.Took literally 10 minutes to change over and works just as it should.Now feeling a lot more secure for things in my truck bed.

Easy install, less than 20minutes, works great and ads some nice security, won’t stop a hardcore thief but easily keeps the opportunists away. I lubed the keyway and haven’t had any sticky keep issues.
