This is the product I have been looking for.I was recently introduced to smash burgers and have been making them at home with my spatula. Although I really like my spatula, it doesn’t work very well for smashing.I have been researching tools for smashing including cast iron grill presses and $50 steak weights.I was reluctant to buy the Burger Iron thinking that it would be too small, but I realized that it should be large enough to make bun sized burgers.It is so simple. The weight is right and the handle is optimally placed to apply force. The smooth texture and the fact that it is dishwasher safe are bonuses.With a spatula, even a nice one, it is difficult to smash the burger evenly and you have to apply a fair amount of force to get it thin enough. Because of the location of the handle directly above the surface that is doing the smashing, it is very easy to get the burger thin enough and it ends up with a uniform thickness.I forgot to buy parchment paper and thought that I would have trouble with the burgers sticking. (I have had this problem in the past if I let my spatula get too hot on the grill.) However, sliding the burger iron off to the side like was mentioned in the reviews worked perfectly. I don’t think I will bother with parchment paper in the future.I made 2 oz burgers very similar in size to what you would get in a fast food restaurant and doubled or tripled them up. They were the best burgers I have ever made.

This is a simple, sturdy, well made kitchen tool that does it's job perfectly. It's great for smash burgers or pressing other food down in the grill or pan to get a better sear. I don't find any need for wax paper or anything else. Just press and go.I was using a heavy BBQ spatula prior to buying this and it worked fine, but this is much better. Well worth the few dollars it cost.

Used this for the first time the other day and loved it. Thoughts:• Well made construction; screwed on handle but sturdy.• Good size, but could be bigger. Got the job done for regular sized patties though.• Stuck to the formed meat balls when smashing, but that could have been because the Burger Iron smashes them so easily I wasn’t making them too thin at first.• Use parchment paper as the other reviewer said, as it made a difference for me as well.• May need to slide the Burger Iron off the patty to prevent sticking (which takes some practice)• Cleans up well with no sharp edges.

I can’t say enough about this; it’s dishwasher safe, sturdy, and it produces the thinnest, flattest burgers in existence. Mine come out better than Five Guys, Burger Fi, or Burky’s, and I don’t have to wait on line, or pay $18 for a burger meal. Also, I won’t screw up my order, another plus. I like to add diced, grilled onions, sliced pickles, my favorite cheese, and a sesame seed bun.If you like thin burgers, you can’t go wrong with this. Just smash the heck out of a ball of meat, and you’ve done it.

I have one of the old wooden handle ones that the handle just cracked after nearly 4 years of use and easily 100 lbs of burgers later.Handle was the only flaw and I see they fixed it. I repaired mine with a scrap dowel and hope it lasts another 4 plus years.

This is such a great tool for smash burgers, perfect size and very well built, highly recommend. I'm a shopper that looks for the best bang for your buck and this item seems like it should cost more because it's built so we'll. I have had many fall apart and this is perfect. Definitely recommend.
