It's sold as a "cigar lighter" but with additional uses. I bought it to melt cheese and other things on various cooked dishes, etc. It arrive empty (which makes sense for shipping and storage) but it was easy to fill -- took about twenty seconds. Lights up right away with a well-directed and contained blue flame. Has an easy-to-use flame adjustment capability, too. Comes with no instructions but is pretty much a no-brainer. Good value for the price.

Works fine except it came with no Butane in it. I had to fill it before it worked. So I was ready to send it back but check for butane first.

This handy gadget is just what I wanted. I have another, but it’s a lot larger and not easy to handle. Takes plenty of butane to ensure that the task gets completed…my creme brûlée’s & meringue pies. Really like it. Good buy too.

I like this little guy. It’s a good size and the torch flame lights consistently and easily. Flame size is optimal as well… not too big, not too small. Doesn’t burn through your butane too fast, but gets the job done. The gold is hot too. Ten/ten.

I've been using this butane torch lighter for my culinary adventures, particularly for melting sugar on desserts like crème brûlée. It's a fantastic tool for achieving that perfect caramelised topping. The torch is refillable, fitting all standard butane tanks, which is really convenient. Its safety lock and adjustable flame features make it easy and safe to use, especially when focusing on small areas. It's a must-have for anyone who enjoys cooking and experimenting with recipes that require a precise flame. Just remember, butane gas isn't included, so you'll need to have that on hand.

Sorry, it's not really good enough. It does do what it claims to do but is a bit feeble. Difficult to fill ( but that could just be me ) and it feels a bit flimsy. The flame isn't really big enough. So, it works . . . but !

This butane blow torch lighter is compact and versatile with a locking switch to keep it on without having to hold onto the operating trigger. I found it easy to fill with butane gas which needs to be purchased separately without needing to use either of the included fill adaptors.I will primarily be using it for cookery when I want to char vegetables or brown the top surface of dessert dishes or burning sugar. It can be used for lighting cigars and provides sufficient output for small soldering tasks. Having used this mini blow torch for browning vegetables I did find I needed to have the flame turned up reasonably high and have noticed that it can blow itself out if set too high.Overall the output is just about sufficient for vegetable charring and it did take a while to get the desired effect. Some care does need to be taken when handling any kind of device which is filled with a flammable gas especially after filling when it is advisable to let the blow torch stand for few minutes prior to use. Overall a useful, small lighter/blow torch which is easy to use.

Nice looking torch , would be better if it came with gas so you can use straightaway. Once you have the gas it is okay. Makes baked Alaska very easy to make.

This is a standard chefs blowtorch that works as expected. I will be using it in the kitchen though it also suggests you can use it to light barbeques or even do simple welding. I have used similar items to light barbeques in the past and it does work well. The welding sounds a bit optimistic, though I haven't tried it and probably never will. For caramelising sugar on a crème Brule it is ideal and works like a dream. It also suggests it can be used to make toast. I can't imagine I would ever be so desperate for toast that I would use a blowtorch to make it.It looks nice and the gold and black colour scheme is quite attractive. It actually looks nicer than expected. It takes standard butane which you have to supply yourself but this is readily available from anywhere that sells cigarettes. Filling is simple using the valve on the bottom and takes seconds. My only complaint is that when you turn it off the flame continues to burn for two or three seconds. As long as you are aware of this it isn't much of a problem but I have removed one star because of this slight fault.
