The SaltDogg TGS06 10 Cubic Foot Tailgate Spreader is a large volume tailgate spreader ideal for commercial applications using #1 rock salt. It works with 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks. The spreader features a corrosion-resistant 10 cubic foot poly hopper. It can be easily mounted to a 2 in. Class 4 receiver, and also includes a universal stake pocket attachment. The TGS06 is a gravity-feed spreader with a manual open/close gate and an 80 lb-capacity vibrator to keep material moving. Its 9 in. poly spinner can cast material up to 30 feet. A 1/2 HP, 12V motor is directly wired and controlled by an included variable speed in-cab controller.

I just purchased this spreader and I've only used it a few times but so far its awesome. I read that some people were having problems with the salt or sand running out before they start moving. I have not had this problem. If you close the feeder gate first then turn the unit on. Let it warm up and then turn the speed switch all the way down the spinner will stop. then you open the gate to whatever size you like. then turn the dial to the proper speed instead of shutting the unit off every time you stop to back up or turn around you will have no problems. I found with #1 bag salt I only open it up about half way. and turn the speed to around 7. this works well on the big parking lots I do. I was hopping that I didn't make a mistake buying TGS06 because it doesn't have an auger. Turns out it doesn't need one. without the auger it is easy to set the spinner to a certain speed and set the flow gate to whatever you need and that's how you control the amount that comes out. The vibrator works real well. The unit is very easy to install and take off. I wanted to make sure i liked it before I installed it permanently so I just hooked it up to a deep cycle battery to try it out.I have no complaints so far.

The hole that the rock salt comes out of is to small. It takes forever it seems to spread salt. The has to be a bigger hole for the salt to come out of. There is no auger where the hole is. The rock salt just falls out of it. Other than that it is a well built salter. Awesome lid, never lose. Just fix the hole and it would be a 5 star.
