I did my own drywall. It was my first hand at it. I came across the School gadget watching videos on how to do drywall. This did exactly as anticipated! Half inch drywall was installed and the results were perfect every single time. Highly recommend.

Wish you could give more then 5 stars on this product. This is a REALLY cool product. I just remodeled my basement, and had to cut about 300 outlets (ok, 9, but thats still a pain!). The drywall had been up for years with outlets, but we had decided to panel. So, I was looking at having to carefully measure and cut each, and hope I had everything lined up perfect (which I am NOT good at, by the way). I happened across an article about this product in a woodworkers blog, and so ordered this to give it a try ($20 was worth the effort if it even kind of worked). Opened it, grabbed my rotozip, and less then 1 1/2 hours later I had the whole room paneled and cover plates reinstalled.. Pop the target into the outlet, hang the paneling, find the target with the box piece, trace around it, and zip it out. It cuts JUST outside the edge of the box if you follow your lines closely. Take your time following the lines, and your existing plates work great!WARNING!!! From experience (and cutting through one of the targets): MAKE SURE YOU TWIST IT ONCE CONNECTED!!! You want to make dang sure that you caught both magnets, not just one. I was getting cocky near the end and didn't check one. OOPS! These magnets are strong, so once you "find" the target and the magnet grabs, just twist it left and right. You will quickly be able to tell if both magnets grabbed, or if you are just floating on one. If you can easily twist it, keep turning it until the other magnet lines up and it snaps into place, then trace and cut!

These work exactly as you'd expect, and were intuitive. I used in both 1- and 2- gang boxes, so I built a cardboard template the size of the 2-gang boxes that had a layout for where the magnet would stick - the magnet worked through the cardboard + 1/2" drywall. Not perfect, though: there's some "play" when the magnets find each other ~1/4" off. That tolerance stacks-up, and meant sometimes I was having to remove the panel AGAIN in order to widen the opening. This tool helps make most of the work a 1-man job, but not always. There are times you need to hold the panel tight to the wall (maybe another protrusion you're trying to be tight against), but you also need to get the magnet aligned and then mark it - can be really tricky, add if you're on a ladder.A rotozip would work better if you don't have outlets installed, and enough room to push wires back. However, I was installing 1/2" plywood (not drywall). I considered using a panel router bit, but concerned the router bit would cut the electrical box.

This product is truly a game changer for weekend warriors with DYI projects. My title says it all. I have had times in the past measuring sheetrock or paneling cutting out openings for existing outlets. Too many times, I ending up being off, most annoying!! So either I had a patch my mistake or cut another sheet, wasting time, money and supplies! I saw this gadget on Amazon, reviews looked promising and purchased. This did not disappoint. I followed the simple instructions, placed one of the locators in the outlet, placed my sheet on top, then used the squared locator to find. The magnets do all the work, I just outlined the box placement, cut the opening, shazaam....a perfect fit. The easy of use and getting the opening right the first time, lets me continue my project without the guess work did I measure correctly and waste my materials. I am sure if you are a "Pro"..you may scoff at this item, but you too will be amazed how simple and accurate this is. I am happy I added this to my arsenal of tools for my weekend projects. Highly recommended...the bright yellow color is also a plus...measure once, cut once!

This product worked exactly as advertised! Very simple to use, and I was installing beadboard in a bedroom with existing outlets. This product made the job much easier and it marked the outlets precisely for cutting out the openings in the beadboard. I would recommend this to anyone installing over existing outlets, and the 8105 for new installations. I did not use it to cut out drywall, but the magnets are very strong, so I imagine it should work okay there too.

I was trying to cut holes for outlet boxes in wall paneling and it was not fun nor was the result pretty. I ordered what I now call "the miracle tool." This locator tool is genius and every time, the cuts were absolutely perfect! I was a little skeptical but after the first cut, I was proven wrong and it was pure love from that point forward.

Haven't had a chance you use kit on site yet! Tested on a scrap piece of drywall and it did exactly as advertised. Must remember to mark index points on drywall and floor etc., for easy line-up after cutting hole!

Fonctionne très bien et je le recommande fortement. Il est même suffisamment puissant pour fonctionner à travers une feuille de contreplaqué.
