i really liked this because of the price and good for kids! looks enchanting from my kid, we got it as a tooth fairy gift, and she uses it every day. on the down side it broke, not due to the sturdiness of the outside, just from the kid twisting and turning the dial a lot.

It looks pretty nice but the needle only vaguely points north if you really coerce it. When you turn the top it turns the needle really doesn't go north again unless you jiggle it around. It's very inaccurate.It's a fun little toy for my child and would be cool for a costume, but I was hoping to use it as a teaching tool and it just won't function as one.

I got these to use as decoration for my son's Indiana Jones themed birthday party. I'm not a fan of goodie bags, but wanted something the kiddos could use later on. These were solid, heavy, looked like genuine explorer compasses. I'm very impressed with the quality and look of the item.
