Ordered the wrong thickness but these were perfect. Strong, firm, and accurately described.

So honestly I didn’t have a project for these yet just thought they’d be a cool thing to have around when needed and they are well made and lightweight will definitely come in handy

I have to admit, I didn’t really have a particular project in mind when I ordered these carbon fiber rods, I just thought they were cool. I really like having lots of random raw materials around when I get in the mood to make something or tinker. These look to be very well manufactured with a very smooth surface finish. I think a lot of the negative reviews here are just upset because they don’t understand the metric system, lol. 3mm = about 1/8†6mm= about 1/4â€

Got these today and immediately took one out of the package to give it a once over. Beautiful finish, no delam or stray threads, nice clean cuts. Held it between my 2 hands and started bending it. It's carbon fiber, it should take a wee bit of torture, right? Not just...snap in my hand like I'm superman. Well, holy moly this is REALLY strong. I mean, I put a really good amount of torque on it, and it held strong. Is it indestructible, of course not. But I've seen some shoddily made bits that would easily have cracked under the stress I put this under. This is actually well made carbon fiber. I even rolled them across my desk. Totally straight, no wobble. Nice.I got this for the wild idea of building a tube-frame crawler chassis from scratch. I'm still working out how to lug it together. I may end up 3-D printing or CNC machining something. But as far as that project, and myriad others I can imagine, where strength and weight are concerns? RC airplane construction (a frame and wing laid up with this stuff would be incredibly strong and light), DIY quadcopters...there really isn't a limit to what you could do with these tubes. These are perfect for anything you can imagine putting them into. And at the price per rod they're asking? You can actually afford to BUILD anything you can imagine.5 stars. Can see myself buying a few other sizes to have on hand.

I saw these, thought them an oddity and ordered them on a whim. Now, I've used them to support items, reinforce crafts, make repairs and other tubular product extensions. Now I'll need to have them around all the time. These are super lightweight (carbon fiber, duh) and incredibly strong (see previous, duh). The consistency is great, the finish is smooth and even. Much nicer to work with than modeling wood, metal or wire. A great addition to any crafty/hobbyist bag of tricks.

I received these today and thought I would write a review on my first impressions. These are very lightweight and very stiff (I got the 5mm by 300mm). They seem like they are quality parts but only time will tell. After measuring two of the rods in various places, I've found that these are 5mm ±0.04mm diameter. That is ±0.0016in. Pretty good for "crafting" carbon fiber rods. I wish I had a way to measure straightness, because I would consider using these as linear rails for low inertia applications. I got them to reinforce some 3d printed parts for a project I'm working on and they will work great for that. They might be a little short for RC plane frames but there are plenty of other applications where these would be great. If I encounter any problems I will update this review but I am pleased thus far.

Wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but when these arrived, I was rather pleased. They're a slightly shimmery-yet-matte black, suggesting they're compressed carbon fiber, which is typical of rods. They very rigid and straight. I could not get much if any deflection in them but merely trying to bend them. So everything I can figure suggests they're actual carbon fiber. So over all, rather pleased.

I'd not worked with carbon fiber rods before, but holy cow they are STRONG! Also very stiff, and super light. I mean, you're all reading this thinking "yea, of course, they're carbon fiber", but let me tell you.... experiencing this stuff in person is quite eye-opening. If you're wondering "is it REALLY that much better than fiberglass or aluminum?" Yes. Yes it is. Yes yes yes yes yes.
