My husband installed it easily within a few minutes. It works as expected and my pesky cats have not been able to get under it to mess with our door. I will give it a few weeks to make sure the gate continues to retract as it should and if so then I’ll likely order another.

I initially got this for helping to cut up all the cardboard we get weekly so that it will fit in our recycle bin. I was hoping it would make quick work of chopping them down, but it's just ok. It has to be lined pushed in a nice straight line to go quickly, and usually requires a good amount holding with one hand and pushing with the other. Honestly if you're just cutting up boxes, and nice sharp box cutter is still the way to go. However it does work great for cutting cloth and my wife and daughter have commandeered it for crafting. It is also working great for my daughter cutting cardboard for her craft projects, and I prefer it to her having a razor sharp box knife. For the right application this is great.

[Feb 8, 2025 - My unbiased review of ... Apoaa's "Cardboard Cutter, 4.2v Cordless Electric Scissors, Rechargeable Cutter Box Tool with Safety Lock & 2 Blade, Upgraded Scissors Cuttable Paper/Carpet/Leather/Rope/Fabric/Plastic - Rotary Cutter"I was lucky enough to receive this Apoaa Cardboard Cutter to review recently, and it's been so helpful for my decluttering efforts. We always seem to end up with a small mountain of Amazon boxes in our garage, and breaking them down used to be a daunting task. This cordless electric rotary cutter/scissor tool slices through the paper tape and cardboard like butter. I don't find it heavy to hold, and it fits comfortably in my (admittedly large) hand, so it's comfortable to use for as long as it takes me to deal with all the boxes.Plus, it's not just for cardboard. It claims to be able to cut all sorts of other materials like leather, paper, carpet, and fabric. I can confirm it cuts paper and fabric. I decided to try it on an old double sheet, cutting it into cleaning rags. Cutting the fabric into 12" squares with nice neat, straight edges was quick and effortless, as long as I held the fabric flat on the table and moved fairly slowly. Ordinary scissors can be a pain to cut that much fabric, and I often get jagged edges as well. One minor thing I noticed is that the safety lock button sometimes seems to need an extra wiggle while it's being pushed in to work. It's not a big deal though, and the positive thing about the safety lock is it's on both sides of the handle, and can be pushed in from either side. That makes this cordless electric scissor tool work well for right and left handed people.Overall, this cutter has streamlined my recycling and upcycling efforts, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking to tackle similar projects. Compared with other similar ones on Amazon, it seems to be good value at the current price [$38.99 Feb 8, 2025] and there's also a 20% coupon available at the moment. One last thing - the octagonal blades. There is one spare blade included, but there are several Amazon sellers offering multiples for about $15. I'm going to get some, just in case that situation changes.

I thought this would be great in chopping up all my amazon boxes for the recycling but was rather disappointed. It works but must be guided with both hands - one to cut and the other to manage the cardboard. I expected it would slide effortlessly through the material like scissors on wrapping paper but it was far more clunky and frustrating.

Your ordinary box cutter works a lot better than this novel item. It was not easy to use and not efficient.

I’m not sure why I need this, but it works and is convenient. This is basically one of those tiny cutters used for wrapping paper or back in the day cutting out newspaper items but powered and on steroids. It has a safety that you need to push in before it will respond to the power trigger, which is really important since you’re handling a motorized, sharpened by a sushi chef pizza cutter. Getting near the wheel will cause damage. So how does it work? Just fine. The first thing I did was power through the boxes this and the rest of my order came in. It takes a little finesse to find the right orientation for it to take off across the cardboard, but when you hit it, it goes through cardboard as easily as my trusty utility knife but probably a little safer. So it’s here, and it has been getting use. Every time a cardboard box shows up with stuff in it, the box is refused to smaller pieces that can fit in the trash can without filling it up.

This thing slices right through cardboard. It has been great for cutting up all my shipping boxes to be recycled, so it works great as it is designed. My only complaint is that it seems like it would be easy to cut one's hand on this, as the blade is exposed enough where it's not hard to make contact with it. It has to be this way in order to work, but it is scary.
